Anakin's desk was covered in electronics as he spun a tiny screwdriver between his fingers and consulted his schematics again.

It was easier to keep his mind off of unpleasant thoughts when his hands were busy.

The door was open.

Aeryn comes by earlier than usual, fully intending to spend some more time reworking the systems on the Prowler when she's done here, and who knows how long that will take. She knocks on the door and greets him with "Hi."

Anakin looked up and smiled. "Good morning."

"So far," she says, coming into the office. "How are you?"

"I have a new project," Anakin said, waving his hands towards the mess.

Which sort of answered the question.

He didn't look like he was sleeping well yet.

"Aha," she says, looking towards said mess. "What is it, exactly?"

"Right now, a lot of spare parts," Anakin admitted. "Give me a few weeks and it'll be a holographic representation of my galaxy. Like the one that used to be in the Temple."

While she's learned to do some things she'd normally consider tech's work, that's so out of her league. "That sounds like a big project," she says helpfully.

After Music class, Molly decided to stop by to say hi to Anakin. When she saw the door open, she stepped into the doorway and waved. "Hi! You very busy?"

Anakin bit his lower lip, suddenly nervous. "Not for you," he said with a small smile. "Come on in."

Molly walked in a flopped into a chair. "How's teaching going?"

"Pretty well," Anakin replied. "Last class didn't upset you, did it?"

He'd been beating himself up for it most of the week.

Molly shook her head. "Not real bad," she said. "It's all stuff I've thought about before. I've just never put it into words before, y'know? It felt good to talk about it."

"Sometimes talking helps," he agreed. He fiddled with a few pieces of metal, putting them together correctly without really thinking about it. "Sometimes it doesn't."

Force, he didn't want to tell her.

"I'm glad it worked for you this time."

Rory knocked lightly on the door with her elbow, since she was holding two drinks and a small bag, as well as something under her arm. "Hi."

"That's a lot of stuff," Anakin said, standing up and moving towards the door. "Let me give you a hand."

He tilted his head. "Unless the coffee's decaf again."

"It's not," Rory said, refraining from telling him that the only coffee was hers and that she was giving him chai. "Here, this cup is yours," she said, handing it over, "and these are cinnamon rolls," she added, gesturing with the bag.

A weetiny penguin waddled in after her, making a lot of noise. "And I haven't named him, but this little guy has been following me around all day."

Anakin grinned. "I don't have a braid for anything to hang from any more," he said. "They've been leaving me alone."

"They were playing in the library," Rory said with a soft little smile. "This one has been either telling me a story or bitching nonstop."

Anakin let out a small chuckle. "Were you bitching?" he asked the penguin.

Luke knew where his father's office was. He just hadn't wanted to stop by until now.

He rapped uncertainly at the door jamb and waited to be noticed.

Anakin's entire face lit up. "Luke! Come in."

Luke stepped into the office and perched nervously in a chair. "Hi. I'm going to New York on a field trip this afternoon and didn't want you to worry if you tried to find me or something," he babbled.

Anakin smiled. "And you thought to check," he said. "New York is an interesting city." He tilted his head to look at his son. "Have you been somewhere bigger than Mos Eisley?"

Luke shook his head. "Why?"

"Because New York is going to be really, really loud," Anakin warned. "You'll be fine, but it's a change." He smiled. "Don't wear any kind of hat that looks like the woman in the harbor, either."
