Anakin had dreamed about Padmé again last night, feeling an almost irresistible draw back to the island (which he had damn well resisted, thank you very much. He was here because he had a job, not because the island wanted him), and was feeling guilty and cranky Anakin wasn't one to trust feelings of calm, warmth, and love. He wasn't really used to feeling them.

And the feel of waiting that the island seemed to be exuding had set the skin on the back of his neck crawling. His hand kept twitching toward the lightsaber he wasn't wearing on campus.

The door was open, but be wary of the twitchy Jedi.

Raven knew she was in trouble, but at least it was a good kind of trouble. If that made sense. So she wasn't entirely fretful about going to Anakin's office after her first period class. Just a little bit fretful.

"Good morning, Professor Skywalker," she said from the doorway.

Anakin sighed. "Where do you want me to start?"

"Wherever you feel best," Raven said, looking down at the floor. "I know I was foolish."

"Foolish doesn't come close to what you were," Anakin said, voice growing a little heated. "Suicidal is more accurate. Don't do that."

"I did not see any other choice!" Raven protested. "My home was being destroyed and I could not think of any other way to stop it."

"Did you ask any of us for ideas?" Anakin demanded.

"There was not time," Raven said, fighting back tears.

[sith_happened]

"There was time," Anakin said, ignoring the tears for the moment to deliver what he believed to be the more important lesson. "Every problem cannot be solved by you sacrificing yourself for it, Raven. It took all of us working together to defeat Trigon," for however long it lasted this time--Anakin wasn't optimistic, "and to try to take it on alone is simple pride. I thought you'd paid attention in my classes."

Raven shook her head. "It was not pride," she said. At least she didn't think it was, though she could see how believing herself to be more important to Trigon than destroying Azarath could be seen that way. "It was desperation," she went on. "And...it was wrong, I know that now. It will not happen again."

Maybe.

That waiting feeling had set Jaina a little on edge, too, but overall she was feeling better about things than she had been before. Be it the fact that she'd actually been dragged out to have real fun, or the non-traumatic dreams that seemed to be helping something she didn't know needed to be helped, but it all meant she could be twitchy, but not all hurty and rageful.

She knocked at the doorframe because she could, noting, "Been a while."

"It seems you've been busy," Anakin said, nodding his head at the radio. "Moving out of the dorms seems like an extreme reaction to not wanting to live in the cabins."

She frowned as she went to take a seat. "Long story. I thought I was doing the right thing for myself, but I'm beginning to think that was a mistake." Past beginning to think, actually.

[sith_happened]

"Tell me," Anakin said. "I am made of time today."

[solo_sword]

She sighed, slumping in the seat a little. "I didn't want a time limit on having to leave. I didn't feel like my time here was done, and so I wanted to stay long enough to know what I was supposed to accomplish here. And then pretty much immediately I don't feel right being here anymore, everyone's sort of talked me out of staying, and I know it was all wrong."

Anakin nodded, not without sympathy. "And Sheppard being back can't be helping much," he offered.

"That turned out to be an unexpected complication," Jaina said honestly, and a little sadly. "Who knows, maybe that's what I was supposed to figure out here: when to give up without a fight."

It wasn't.

"Perhaps," Anakin said, sounding a little dubious. "What's your plan now?"

Anakin might have had the Force, but today it was Padmé who was drawn to him like a lodestone to iron.

She stood in the doorway as he was preparing to leave for the night, blocking his path.

"Hello, Ani."

He had known the second she'd arrived on the island. He would recognize that particular feel in the Force wherever he was for as long as he lived. He'd had time to prepare as he felt her moving closer to him.

And staring down into her eyes, he realized he had no idea what to say.

"I remember you being slightly more eloquent," Padmé said, a light smile tugging at her lips.

"You're dead!" Anakin stammered.

"I am," Padmé said, looking up at him.

"But you're here."

"I remember you being smarter than this, too," Padmé replied. "It's me, Ani. Truly."

Anakin staggered backward to lean heavily against his desk, his hand going over his mouth as he turned a bit green.
