A week away without the baby? Anakin had loved it, even if he had begun feeling vaguely guilty about leaving her by Thursday.

Which was why he was now updating the photos in his office (which would also be helpful for when alumni stopped by during the weekend, he thought) and humming "Sweet Caroline" under his breath.

Rory swore that Juliet loved the song. Anakin rather suspected it had something more to do with the guy with the hair and the guitar from Squee singing it.

Either way, the door was open.

And where there were Anakin office hours, there was a Raven, of course. "Good morning, Professor Skywalker," she said, totally suppressing any memory of seeing her favorite teacher in a hot tub. Never happened.

Anakin glanced up and smiled. "Good morning, Raven. Come in."

"Did you enjoy your week off?" Raven asked, settling in her usual chair.

[sith_happened]

"Very much so," Anakin replied with a grin. "Rory and I haven't had baby-free time together since Juliet was born."

"But how long did it take for you to miss her?" Raven said.

[sith_happened]

"When the door to the apartment closed," Anakin admitted, cheeks going crimson.

[trigons_child]

Raven smiled. "Then I can imagine your relief to be home and hold her again," she said.

[sith_happened]

"She got bigger while we were gone," Anakin babbled proudly, "and can almost turn over now!"

[trigons_child]

"Will you be bringing her to the island for Homecoming?" Raven asked. She thought she might like squeeing over a cute baby.

[sith_happened]

Anakin nodded. "My son's coming back," he said, "and if he doesn't get to see his sister, there would be words."

[trigons_child]

"Then I hope to meet her and your wife," Raven said. She'd never had a normal family, so she would happily experience it vicariously.

[sith_happened]

"I'll look for you," Anakin promised. "How did you enjoy your week off?"

[trigons_child]

"It was very relaxing," Raven said. "I did enjoy it, though I missed my classes as well."

[solo_sword]

Against all better judgment Jaina was here, and for as glad as she was that the blue had finally washed off, she was almost disappointed she'd lost her 'talk till I'm blue in the face' metaphor.

She didn't say anything, just knocked at the door. She showed up, she was waiting on his reaction to decide whether or not she stayed.

"Come in Jaina," Anakin said, relief and wariness showing in equal measure in his eyes.

She stepped inside, but didn't sit. "Think we can actually get through a conversation without anyone banging their head against something?"

Because if they couldn't, she wasn't going to be here. She was not having another conversation like that.

"I was planning on it," Anakin replied.

[solo_sword]

"Is everything still all my fault?" she asked calmly.

[sith_happened]

Anakin blinked. "I don't recall saying that," he said. "Ever."

[solo_sword]

She raised her eyebrows. "I was honest about the way I was feeling and you basically said you were sorry I'm so difficult."

[sith_happened]

"I'm sorry that's how you interpreted it because that's not at all how I meant it," Anakin replied. "I have a number of students stopping by my office and generally you're the only one leaving angry. That has to be my failing."

[solo_sword]

She shrugged a little. "Kinda seems like we were both yelling to brick walls at the end there." Because yeah, she knew she'd been doing it too. "Maybe that says something."

[sith_happened]

"Is that an apology, then?" he asked quietly.

[solo_sword]

"Sort of," she said after a pause. "I'm not going to apologize for the way I've felt, but I shouldn't have reacted that way, and that I'm sorry for."

[sith_happened]

Anakin nodded and gestured to a chair. "So tell me where you think I went wrong."
