A week away without the baby? Anakin had loved it, even if he had begun feeling vaguely guilty about leaving her by Thursday.

Which was why he was now updating the photos in his office (which would also be helpful for when alumni stopped by during the weekend, he thought) and humming "Sweet Caroline" under his breath.

Rory swore that Juliet loved the song. Anakin rather suspected it had something more to do with the guy with the hair and the guitar from Squee singing it.

Either way, the door was open.

And where there were Anakin office hours, there was a Raven, of course. "Good morning, Professor Skywalker," she said, totally suppressing any memory of seeing her favorite teacher in a hot tub. Never happened.

Anakin glanced up and smiled. "Good morning, Raven. Come in."

"Did you enjoy your week off?" Raven asked, settling in her usual chair.

[sith_happened]

"Very much so," Anakin replied with a grin. "Rory and I haven't had baby-free time together since Juliet was born."

"But how long did it take for you to miss her?" Raven said.

[sith_happened]

"When the door to the apartment closed," Anakin admitted, cheeks going crimson.

Raven smiled. "Then I can imagine your relief to be home and hold her again," she said.

"She got bigger while we were gone," Anakin babbled proudly, "and can almost turn over now!"

"Will you be bringing her to the island for Homecoming?" Raven asked. She thought she might like squeeing over a cute baby.

Anakin nodded. "My son's coming back," he said, "and if he doesn't get to see his sister, there would be words."

"Then I hope to meet her and your wife," Raven said. She'd never had a normal family, so she would happily experience it vicariously.

"I'll look for you," Anakin promised. "How did you enjoy your week off?"

"It was very relaxing," Raven said. "I did enjoy it, though I missed my classes as well."

[sith_happened]

"Sometimes it's nice to shake up the routine," Anakin said with a smile. "You come back with new perspective."

Raven nodded. "Though I fear my first day back in classes did not go well," she admitted. "Lady Ghanima paralyzed us with tea and I panicked."

"Because of the sudden loss of control?" Anakin guessed.

[trigons_child]

"Yes," Raven said. "We were not warned that it would happen, and there was a great deal of fear and anger from some of the other students as well. I did not like being so helpless."

"And how did you overcome your fear?" Anakin asked.

[trigons_child]

"I focused on what you have taught me," Raven said. "About fear and the Dark Side. And Lady Ghanima recognized that I was upset and spoke to me about fear as well. I felt foolish afterward for panicking, for I know Lady Ghanima would not do something to harm her students."

Anakin nodded. "I wouldn't have asked you to talk to her about training if I thought she would," he said.

"I spoke to her about that before class," Raven said. "She agreed to help me learn to defend myself. She said she intended to push me to find my limits, which makes me somewhat nervous, but I understand her reasoning."

"You can't figure out how far you can go until you've been pushed past where you thought you'd stop," Anakin said with a smile.

"I do not think I could bring myself to kill another or cause them serious harm," Raven said. "But I fear being put in that position because I worry that I would abuse my gifts." Like she had in the other Fandom.

"There are ways to deflect harm without inflicting any of your own," Anakin replied. He didn't tend to use those methods, but they existed.

"I know I can teleport away from danger or use my Soul-Self to deflect an attack," Raven said, "but I also know that may not always work, so it is wise to be prepared to defend myself in other ways. I am just apprehensive because I have been a pacifist all my life, though I do not think it can be as difficult as allowing myself to finally experience my own emotions."
