A week away without the baby? Anakin had loved it, even if he had begun feeling vaguely guilty about leaving her by Thursday.

Which was why he was now updating the photos in his office (which would also be helpful for when alumni stopped by during the weekend, he thought) and humming "Sweet Caroline" under his breath.

Rory swore that Juliet loved the song. Anakin rather suspected it had something more to do with the guy with the hair and the guitar from Squee singing it.

Either way, the door was open.

"I do not think I could bring myself to kill another or cause them serious harm," Raven said. "But I fear being put in that position because I worry that I would abuse my gifts." Like she had in the other Fandom.

"There are ways to deflect harm without inflicting any of your own," Anakin replied. He didn't tend to use those methods, but they existed.

"I know I can teleport away from danger or use my Soul-Self to deflect an attack," Raven said, "but I also know that may not always work, so it is wise to be prepared to defend myself in other ways. I am just apprehensive because I have been a pacifist all my life, though I do not think it can be as difficult as allowing myself to finally experience my own emotions."

Anakin nodded. "And Ghanima will understand if you have qualms."

[trigons_child]

"She has been a good teacher, so I look forward to learning more from her," Raven said. "And...I should tell you that I asked Dinah to see if she could find any information about Sebastian, the boy who tried to take me from Fandom, since Dinah and I are from the same or similar worlds. Even though he is my age he leads a large church that some call a cult, and we think that they might secretly worship my father. Which may mean that my father knows I am here."

Anakin nodded. "Can you give me a physical description of him, just in case?" he asked.

"Sebastian or my father?" Raven said. "Sebastian appeared to be the same age as I, and roughly the same height. His skin was very pale and his hair almost white and fell to his shoulders. His eyes were reddish. He was very arrogant and vain. My father...you would know him if you saw him."

Anakin smiled. "I was thinking your father, yes."

Because Anakin was exactly the kind of person who would walk up to him with a lightsaber and fully expect to hold his own.

"Aside from dreams, I have only seen him once," Raven said gravely. "He is over a hundred feet tall and has red skin and two sets of eyes, one above the other. He also has golden antlers upon his brow. I do not know all his powers, but he can travel between dimensions, though I think that unlike myself he may be restricted to using gateways of some sort. He can accelerate time and cause a person to age unnaturally, and he has destroyed whole worlds with blasts of energy that come from his eyes."

And Anakin would still square off against the guy. Not the brightest crayon in the box, Anakin.

"That is fairly easy to spot," he agreed. "I don't suppose he's ticklish?"

For a split second Raven might've wondered if Anakin had abruptly lost his mind. Humor was still a difficult concept to grasp. "I...have never had the opportunity to learn," she said. "And if my mother knows, she never shared that information with me."

Anakin smiled. "I was trying to be funny," he said. Which was why he didn't do it often: he wasn't good at it. "He sounds formidable--I was hoping for some easy way to defeat him."

[trigons_child]

"I do as well," Raven said. "I can at least take some comfort in one of the futures Karla saw for me, that with the aid of friends I would be able to resist and defeat Trigon. I do not know how easily that future will come, but it is the one I wish to live."

"Then that's the one we'll aim at," Anakin said, turning more serious.
