Skywalker Apartment [Thursday evening]

Anakin was sitting in the middle of the living room floor trying to untangle Vladdie from a string of blinking white lights.

"I leave you alone for three seconds," he muttered, not even turning around to point straight at Bertie. "Back to the closet," he scolded. "Eating the stockings is a terrible, terrible idea."

Ah, Christmas decorating.

"Good point," she sighed. "And really, it's probably best that we told them before I started really showing."

Anakin's hand drifted down to rest on her stomach. "It probably lessened the volume and duration of the yelling a bit," he said.

"Hopefully there won't be a repeat or anything," she said, resting her hand on top of his.

He smiled down at her. "I only get yelled at once," he said.

Pause.

"Usually."

"I'm pretty sure I've yelled at you more than once," she said, nodding.

"I only let very special people yell at me more than once," he said. "And throw Zen gardens at me."

"You deserved it," she replied, stretching her legs over his lap.

"I'm not going to argue that," Anakin said, reaching out to massage one of her feet. "Glad it's not November any more. I felt like I was holding my breath the entire month."

"I know," she said, smiling softly. "But we made it through okay."

He leaned over to kiss the scar on her neck. "I'm very grateful for that," he murmured. "No clinic visits in November this year. I think that's a first for us."

"Don't jinx it," she said softly.

"I won't," he promised, leaning his forehead against hers and moving his hand back to her stomach. "There's a little too much going on now for me to get stupid."

Not that that had ever stopped him before...

"For either of us to," she offered.

Anakin leaned in to kiss her. "Yes, so no skiing or cliff jumping or making friends with vampires for you," he teased.

"Well, there go all my plans," she sighed.

"I'm sure we could come up with other things to do," he murmured. "Monopoly, knitting, scrapbooking..."

"I worry about the baby," she admitted. "What if we poke it?"

Anakin's cheeks went pink. "I appreciate your, um, faith in me?" he said awkwardly, "but the baby is way higher than I can reach."

Rory burst out laughing. "I just wanted to see what you'd say," she giggled.

Anakin looked like he was dangerously close to spontaneously combusting through embarrassment.

"Really?"

"Well, no, actually I did worry about that but my books actually told me that having sex is good so I figured it wouldn't hurt the baby, and I wanted to see what you'd say if I said that," she replied, still laughing. "Come on, it's funny."

"Maybe a little," he admitted, reaching out to tickle her.

He leaned in to blow a raspberry against her neck. "You're lucky you're adorable," he said oh-so-threateningly.

"I'm so scared of the consequences if I wasn't," she replied, giggling.
