Skywalker Apartment [Thursday evening]

Anakin was sitting in the middle of the living room floor trying to untangle Vladdie from a string of blinking white lights.

"I leave you alone for three seconds," he muttered, not even turning around to point straight at Bertie. "Back to the closet," he scolded. "Eating the stockings is a terrible, terrible idea."

Ah, Christmas decorating.

"For either of us to," she offered.

Anakin leaned in to kiss her. "Yes, so no skiing or cliff jumping or making friends with vampires for you," he teased.

"Well, there go all my plans," she sighed.

"I'm sure we could come up with other things to do," he murmured. "Monopoly, knitting, scrapbooking..."

"I worry about the baby," she admitted. "What if we poke it?"

Anakin's cheeks went pink. "I appreciate your, um, faith in me?" he said awkwardly, "but the baby is way higher than I can reach."

Rory burst out laughing. "I just wanted to see what you'd say," she giggled.

Anakin looked like he was dangerously close to spontaneously combusting through embarrassment.

"Really?"

"Well, no, actually I did worry about that but my books actually told me that having sex is good so I figured it wouldn't hurt the baby, and I wanted to see what you'd say if I said that," she replied, still laughing. "Come on, it's funny."

"Maybe a little," he admitted, reaching out to tickle her.

"Maybe a lot," she said, squirming away.

He leaned in to blow a raspberry against her neck. "You're lucky you're adorable," he said oh-so-threateningly.

"I'm so scared of the consequences if I wasn't," she replied, giggling.

"There would be a lot less of this," he said, kissing along her jaw.

"Poor me," she said pitifully, kissing his temple.

"It would be very, very sad," Anakin agreed, smiling at her and running his fingers against her stomach.

"Devastating," she agreed, arching her back.

"Think we can leave the tree for a little bit?" he murmured, nipping at her earlobe.

"But it isn't done," she pointed out, clearly not serious.

"Bet it won't care," he promised, kissing the other ear.

"But what if Vladdie eats the lights?" she wondered.

"Then he'll blink on and off and be easier to find under the sofa," Anakin said, tugging at her shirt.

"But that doesn't seem very healthy," she said, lifting her arms.

Off went the shirt and Anakin took a moment to stare, smiling softly. "My beautiful wife," he murmured.

"You just say that 'cause they're bigger," she said softly, teasing.
