Anakin was in a fantastic mood today. Rory and Juliet had come onto the island with him, and it had been far too long since he'd had the chance to have a lunch date with his wife.

She was currently grabbing coffee at the Perk, leaving Anakin to have an animated--and one-sided--conversation with his daughter as she sat in his lap.

"And the toes are connected to the foot, which is connected to the ankle, which is connected to the knee, which is very, very ticklish---"

Well, no one said it was going to be a terribly intelligent conversation.

The door was open.

At some point, Rory returned with coffee, tilting her head at the tableau that greeted her.

"Is Juliet helping with paper-grading or something?" she guessed.

"She is," Anakin replied, grinning over. "She says they all do B+ work."

"She's a tough grader," Rory said, not at all disapprovingly.

"She is," Anakin agreed, trying to look as adorable as possible. "Did you bring me coffee and pastries like you used to?"

Rory shifted so he could see the coffee and bag in her hands. "When did I ever do that?" she wondered, grinning as she wandered in to sit down.

"Every week there for a bit," he teased, "except for those mean weeks where you brought me decaf."

"You needed to sleep," she replied, passing the coffee over to him, and breaking a cookie into a few pieces for Juliet.

"I was stubborn," Anakin replied, as if that particular trait had changed drastically in the last few years. "Thank you for the coffee."

"Mmm-hmm!" Rory hummed agreeably. "Feel like feeding the little girl?"

Despite the awful weekend, Raven couldn't help but smile at the site of Anakin with Juliet. "Is she to be your new teaching assistant?" she teased.

"Yes," Anakin declared. "She has many thoughts about ethics. How are you, Raven?"

"The weekend was not good, but I am doing better now," Raven said, waving at Juliet as she took a seat.

"The gremlins?" Anakin replied, bouncing Juliet a bit on his knee.

"Yes," Raven said quietly. "It was more difficult than I thought it would be for me." She was careful to keep her shielding at full strength; she didn't want to accidentally project anything about her feelings about the weekend, not with a baby in the room.

Anakin watched Raven carefully. "The baby's shielded," he assured her. "Tell me what happened."

"I remained in Caritas for much of the weekend," Raven said, "as that was where they set up a first aid station. I healed as many as I could until I returned to the dorms with Dinah. I wanted to see if I could absorb some of the gremlin's aggression, but...there were too many of them."

"Overload?" Anakin guessed, pointing to his forehead.

Jaina had skipped last week because she frankly didn't want to have the same argument two weeks in a row, and so she wondered if stopping in today would be a good idea... and then she saw Juliet and figured neither of them would fight in front of a baby, so that ha to be safe.

"They're bringing the students in awfully young these days," she said.

"She's extremely advanced for her age," Anakin replied as Juliet sucked on a plastic toy.

"Of course she is, she's a Skywalker," said Jaina, taking a seat. "Did you just decide to bring her in today?"

"Rory's getting coffee," Anakin said with a grin. "We decided to have a lunch date on the island today. Juliet was helping me grade papers. She thinks they're very tasty."

[solo_sword]

"Does that mean anyone who gets their paper eaten automatically gets an A?" she asked, making a face at her tiny little alternate universe half-aunt.

Juliet rewarded the face-making with a peal of laughter, and Anakin smiled down at her. "Probably," he said. "I'm trying to avoid that outcome. How was your experience fighting gremlins?"

[solo_sword]

"Nothing too bad. One got in my room, I took care of that little problem, then spent the weekend trying to get rid of them and minimize destruction where I could. I don't think I succeeded much in that second part. You were off island the whole weekend, right?"

Anakin nodded. "It was a bit of a surprise when I got to campus on Tuesday," he said, making a face.
