Skywalker Apartment [Tuesday evening]

Anakin was seated barefoot on the floor wearing only his undertunic and pants, his attention focused on the tiny baby on an equally tiny pink blanket laying between him and Rory.

"I know the pediatrician said that tummy time is important," he finally ventured, "but when Juliet can't lift her head yet, it just seems a little...mean."

"It's in all the books," Rory said, her attention completely on said wee baby. "And the doctor said we have to."

But it seemed mean, all right.

"I think enough hair will fix her having a flat head," Anakin declared. "Maybe a wig?"

"She won't have a flat head," Rory said determinedly, reaching out to touch Juliet's little head.

"She's perfect," Anakin declared, smiling like a complete dork. "Just like her mother."

"Biiiias," Rory sing-songed, tilting her head down to smile at Juliet.

"Well, perfect like her father seems very self-serving," Anakin said, "not to mention untrue."

"Self-serving, yes. Untrue, no," Rory replied.

"Bias," Anakin singsonged back at her.

"I'm allowed. I married you," she replied.

"Yes you did," Anakin said smugly. "An excellent decision on your part."

"Well, I knew I'd get a sparkly ring out of it," Rory said, hiding her face so he wouldn't see her trying not to laugh.

"I knew you were only in this for my vast wealth," he teased, reaching out to poke her with his foot.

"Naturally," she replied, smiling and tickling that foot.

He laughed, then laughed harder when Juliet made a little noise.

It wasn't a laugh, but Anakin would dare you to say otherwise.

"Our child is brilliant," Rory said reverently, beaming at Juliet.

"She is," Anakin agreed. "Do you think that was a thought on her sonata or her first dissertation on global affairs?"

"The latter. She probably won't be a musician until she's at least three," Rory sighed.

Anakin sighed too. "But by then she'll be fluent in French."

"And Spanish, and on her way through Portuguese," she added.

"With enough Huttese to get by," Anakin chimed in.

"Only clean words," Rory warned.

His cheeks went pink even as he pretended he had no idea what she was talking about. "Of course!" He poked her foot with his again.

"I don't want her first word to be some kind of horrible Huttese curse," Rory replied, pinching his toe.

Anakin giggled, though he'd completely deny it. "It won't be. It'll probably be 'book'. Or 'coffee.'"

"Or 'Daddy,'" she offered softly.
