Skywalker Apartment [Saturday evening]

Anakin cheated and used the Force to hold up his stack of packages as he opened the door to the apartment.

It wouldn't do to have the birthday cake fall, after all.

"Rory?" he called softly as he came in. "Are you awake?"

"Hmm. I don't see air-holes," she said worriedly.

"I gave it a scuba tank," he assured her.

"You're a really good folder, then," she noted with a grin.

He kissed her nose. "I'm a man of many talents."

She started carefully pulling the paper back. "Hmm. This is a very smooth pony."

"I also shaved it," Anakin told her.

"And printed on it?" Rory asked delightedly, pulling off a bit more paper.

"It was a very obliging pony," Anakin said, laughing.

Rory got the rest of the paper off and practically leapt at him in a hug.

"Hi!" he said, laughing harder. "So I chose right?"

"You chose perfectly," she told his shoulder.

"Happy birthday, love," he whispered, kissing the top of her head and frowning as the doorbell rang. "Dinner's here."

"Oooh, you ordered dinner?" she asked curiously.

"I did," Anakin said, opening the door. "I got Italian." The delivery man coughed. "And Greek, and Thai," he added, blushing. "I wanted to make sure there was something you could eat."

Rory laughed, waving at the delivery guy. "I'm not just picky, I'm knocked up," she told him, in case he thought she was weird.

The delivery guy laughed until a look from Anakin sent him skittering away. "Pasta, spinach puffs and pad thai," Anakin said, laughing as he juggled all of the containers. "Dinner of champions."

"You're so thoughtful," she said, smiling softly.

"It's your birthday," Anakin said, setting up a picnic on the floor. "I want you to be happy."

"And we didn't even have to go out," she said happily.

"I thought you might prefer that," he said shyly, stretching his legs out as he sat down.

She shifted onto the floor beside him. "I'm not really feeling the going-out thing, no," she agreed.

He passed her a plate and kissed her cheek. "You're beautiful."

"You're biased," she said, grinning.

"Am I not supposed to be?" he asked, filling up his plate.

"No, I'm just saying," she said, leaning over to kiss his cheek.
