Anakin shut the door to Rory's suite with the kind of careful precision that only meant he really wanted to slam it until it fell off its hinges.

"Tell me I don't have to go back to that house."

"I'm not pregnant!" Rory said for the eighteenth time. "Why did she have to assume I'm pregnant? I mean, I get why, but god, how many times did we have to say you didn't knock me up?"

Anakin sat down on the couch, then immediately stood back up and began pacing. "At least once more," he said bitterly. "Do you think a sign could help?"

"Seriously, considering how many times they tried to set me up, you'd think they'd be happy. And this is a gorgeous ring. I don't know what's wrong with Grandma," Rory sulked, cradling her left hand to her chest.

"Because my family has never even heard of the Mayflower," Anakin spat. "That's what's wrong." He walked over towards the fridge. "Do you have anything to drink?"

"Orange juice. Coffee," she offered. "I'm not old enough to drink out here."

Anakin made a face and walked back towards her, slipping his hands around her waist. "Do you need me to get something?" he asked, "or do you want me here more?"

"On the one hand, yay booze, but do you even have ID?" she pointed out.

"Yes," Anakin said with a small smile. "It's even mostly legitimate."

She grinned. "If you want to go get something so we can get drunk, I'll order real food. Foie gras is not real food, thanks."

"I couldn't eat much of it anyway," he admitted, tipping her head up to kiss her. "I love you. I'll be back as soon as I can."

"Chinese? Pizza?" she asked, kissing him.

"Food with sticks is good date food," Anakin said, nudging his nose against hers.

"Oooh, are we on a date? It's been forever since we had a date," she murmured, kissing his lower lip.

"We can picnic on the floor and everything," he said, smiling and finally pulling back. "You pick the music and make the order. I'll be back with food and booze."

"Will do." Rory saluted. For she was a dork.

"Dork," Anakin said fondly, kissing her nose and heading out the door.

He returned twenty minutes later with vodka, Chinese food, and ice cream.

Mmm. Comfort food.

Rory had changed out of her dress and was now curled up on the couch. "Do I see ice cream?"

"You do," Anakin said, leaning over and kissing her. "You changed. I liked the dress."

"I'll wear it again," she promised, smiling up at him.

"I miss seeing legs," he teased. "Ice cream first?"

"You see me naked all the time. And yes of course, ice cream first. Can we pour the vodka on it?" she wondered.

"After the first part of the night? I'd say it's a requirement," Anakin replied, making a face. He put the Chinese bag down on the floor and waved two spoons over to his hand before sitting next to her. He smiled. "And skirts remind me of the summer."

"Well, that dress reminds me of Grandma asking if I'm turning into Mom," she replied, rolling her eyes and taking a spoon.

Anakin leaned across to kiss her softly. "I don't think I got enough credit for not tipping the salad course onto her head for that," he said with a small smile.

"You get so much credit. Mom appreciates you being awesome, by the way," she murmured, kissing the corner of his mouth. "And so do I."
