Anakin was going to wear a path across his floor if he kept up his pacing.

And the sun wasn't going to set any faster, no matter how many times he checked out the window.

...why yes, Anakin was taking the news on the radio as a personal insult.

His friendship alpha-male off rivalry thing with Angel had always been...complicated. And his hatred for Angelus had never really gone away. Angelus'd nearly killed Rory, after all. Anakin wasn't the kind to just let that sort of thing go.

You know, ever.

So pacing. He figured it was a step up from lifting every rock on the island to figure out which one Angelus had slithered under.

The door was open.

"I'm told it's shocking and rare," he deadpanned.

"By me on a few occasions," Anakin said.

This was what passed for teasing from him.

"Wait, do you teach?" John asked, feigning confusion. "And here I thought you just lectured."

"Funny," Anakin said. "You're a funny guy."

"I've been told I sould go into comedy," John replied. "You think it'd be a good fit?"

"You're asking me to judge a sense of humor."

"Which is a problem because you don't have one?"

A pause for slightly too long.

"No."

"Oh, well, you didn't seem so sure a moment ago," John smirked.

"You're not making me happy," Anakin said.

Because clearly that would influence John.

"I'm not trying to hurt your feelings," John said, trying very hard not to smile. "I'm sure you're very funny. Deep, deep down."

"I'm hysterical," Anakin insisted. "You just don't understand it."

John was skeptical. "Does anyone understand it?"

"Rory does," Anakin said stubbornly.

"She and I need to have a talk," John said seriously.

"She'll still like me more."

"I'm not going to try to steal your girlfriend. I have my own."

"Reminding me of that's not going to win you any points either," Anakin remarked.

"Does it help if I don't use her name?" John offered, thinking he was incredibly helpful.

"Not even a little bit," Anakin told him.

"What if I referred to her as Dana?" Because he just didn't know when to say when.

"What if I tossed you bodily from my office?" Anakin countered.

"Why don't I just go?" he offered, standing up quickly.

"My way's funnier?" Anakin tried.

"For you," John said. "But somehow I don't think I'd like it very much."
