Anakin was going to wear a path across his floor if he kept up his pacing.

And the sun wasn't going to set any faster, no matter how many times he checked out the window.

...why yes, Anakin was taking the news on the radio as a personal insult.

His friendship alpha-male off rivalry thing with Angel had always been...complicated. And his hatred for Angelus had never really gone away. Angelus'd nearly killed Rory, after all. Anakin wasn't the kind to just let that sort of thing go.

You know, ever.

So pacing. He figured it was a step up from lifting every rock on the island to figure out which one Angelus had slithered under.

The door was open.

"And I'm supposed to be feeling especially charitable or something?"

"Well, you won't have to deal with me for at least three weeks, right?"

Anakin's face broke into a huge smile. "This is true."

"But if you toss me out, I could always stay by your side the whole time," John smirked.

"The hell you will," Anakin retorted. "You're not coming to Connecticut."

"But I already bought my ticket!" he lied.

"A hint for free," Anakin said, raising an eyebrow. "Lying to a Jedi is a waste of everyone's time."

"That doesn't stop it from being the only good response."

Like Anakin was going to let a thing like logic get in the way of having a snit.

"Most Jedi smack liars upside the head," he told John.

Only if by "most" you included "named Anakin," sure.

"Huh, you know," John said thoughtfully. "I hear Connecticut gets snow for Christmas. I do love to ski..."

"Have a wonderful time," Anakin said dryly. "We won't be joining you."

"Have you ever been skiing, professor?" he asked. "It's a great sport."

"I grew up in the desert," Anakin said flatly. "Why would I seek out snow?"

"Because it's different from sand."

Anakin made a face.

Old habits die hard.

"Most thing are."

John managed not to snicker at the face. Barely. "You must love the beach."

"The water makes up for a lot," Anakin said with a small smile.

"You know snow is just water in another form, right?"

"A really cold form, yes," Anakin retorted.

"I'd think you'd like cold better than the desert heat," he reasoned.

Anakin shrugged. "It took me a while to get used to cold," he said. "Space is always cold."

He shoved aside a memory of a tiny Padmé offering him a blanket. "Anything that isn't sand is preferable, and I'm up in Connecticut often enough that the snow is hardly avoidable."

Space flight was one of those things John had gotten a taste of at Fandom that he knew he'd never have in his life back home. He was a little jealous he'd never know that cold.

"You just need good boots and socks," he replied, pushing aside his thoughts. "Once your feet are warm, the snow is nothing."

Anakin gestured down at his boots. "These will do," he said a little firmly. "And Jedi can ignore temperature. It just takes some getting used to."
