Ye olde shuttle parking [Monday afternoon]

Anakin had spent a good hour staring at the shuttle, a can of paint and a brush in his hand.

Finally he bit his lower lip, painted over the name Tydirium and rechristened the ship the Virgo in Basic and English.

Then he stood back and waited to see if the only person who would understand the name change would actually be arriving for their lessons today.

"You have to take the flak from your cabinmates when the pony keeps them awake at night," Anakin teased. "With it's, um, singing."

Anakin knew nothing about ponies.

Rory stared.

"Because I'd train it to sing 'Ever the Same,'" Anakin told her.

As you do.

"...ponies don't sing?" she tried.

"Fandom ponies would," Anakin insisted with a smile.

"Peter didn't," Rory pointed out.

"That's because he was sulking," Anakin said.

He didn't care that this conversation had stopped making sense.

"No, it's because he was a pony."

"He was sulking because he was a pony?" Anakin glanced over at her, eyes bright. "If he'd sung he would've felt so much better."

"...you are weird," Rory said, trying not to laugh.

"This is not news," Anakin said, grinning back at her. He gave another glance out the window. "Are you ready to go back?"

He wasn't exactly in any hurry to go back and spar with Qui-Gon.

"Yeah," Rory sighed, looking through the window. "I guess we should, huh?"

"Or we can find a snack out of the replicator and stay a little longer..."

Rory's eyes lit up. "Could we? Is there co...um, caf?"

Anakin smiled over at her as he unstrapped from his chair. "Would I travel any other way?" he asked, touching her shoulder lightly before heading to the back of the shuttle for a moment.

"Not with me, you wouldn't," she said, smirking.

It was a good thing he was facing the other direction. His expression totally gave him away.

He returned minutes later with two steaming cups of caf. "For you," he said, handing her one with a smile.

"Thanks," she said softly. "I think that this might be one of the best things ever."

"Caf is pretty fantastic," he said, deliberately misunderstanding her.

"I didn't just mean the caf."

Anakin leaned against the back of her seat as he took a sip from his cup and gazed out the window. "I'm glad I could show it to you," he said softly.

"I wouldn't want to see it with anyone else," she said softly.

Anakin looked at her for a heartbeat too long for strictly casual contact, then gave her a slow smile.

Rory reached over and moved a curl off his forehead, totally not letting her hand linger.

Really.

Anakin would be moving back any minute now.

Yes.

Just not, apparently, this one.
