Office hours [all day]

It wasn't that Anakin was pleased Ben was off on a mission, but he'd gotten his workout this morning in the hour and a half it took him to dig his car out of the snowbank the plow had thrown over it. (He'd retaliated by dumping half of the snow on one annoying neighbor's car.)

He'd gotten to the island with no one on the mainland noticing that his car's tires didn't actually touch the ground--Anakin's habit of tweaking technology had come in handy.

Now he sat in his office with both hands wrapped around a mug of coffee and wished for summer.

The door was open.

"I know," Raven said. "I could not have imagined myself making such an offer only a short time ago, but several people have attempted to convince me that not all vampires are evil creatures, and I sensed no ill intentions from Professor Chevalier, so perhaps I was wrong to fear them all." She sighed and shook her head, staring down at her hands in her lap. "I am uncertain. I would like to help, but I will bow to your wisdom in this."

"But many are," Anakin countered, "and you are not wrong to be wary of them. I would really prefer you not help Professor Chevalier, at least until I have a moment to question him myself."

Raven lifted her gaze and nodded. "I will wait then," she agreed. It would probably be for the best anyway, since she wasn't going to get over her vampire issues in just one morning.

"You have a good heart," Anakin said, "and people can sometimes try to take advantage of that. I just want to be certain that's not happening here."

"I understand," Raven said. "I am not well experienced with recognizing treachery or manipulation." Like, say, with her own memories. "Azarath did not prepare me for that."

[sith_happened]

"I know," Anakin said, thinking some very uncharitable things toward Azarath. "We'll get there."
