It wasn't that Anakin was pleased Ben was off on a mission, but he'd gotten his workout this morning in the hour and a half it took him to dig his car out of the snowbank the plow had thrown over it. (He'd retaliated by dumping half of the snow on one annoying neighbor's car.)

He'd gotten to the island with no one on the mainland noticing that his car's tires didn't actually touch the ground--Anakin's habit of tweaking technology had come in handy.

Now he sat in his office with both hands wrapped around a mug of coffee and wished for summer.

The door was open.

After making sure she wouldn't be needed by Adrian at least till evening, Jaina decided there wasn't a point to going to sleep this early in the kriffing morning and just headed down to the offices instead. Add to that the whole thing where she hadn't heard from John in thirty-two days and she was just a little bundle of positive energy today.

"You look like you're having fun," Jaina greeted him, finding a seat. Yeah, she knew he probably didn't. She said it anyway.

"Want some coffee?" he asked. "It's ridiculous out there."

"Yeah, please. That weather saved me from having to go out at 0200," she said, more than a little glad about that. "I'm surprised you made it."

"I needed to get out of the house," Anakin admitted. "I can't stay very long today or Rory will kill me. As it is, I'm bringing home dinner. What were you supposed to be doing at 0200?"

[solo_sword]

"Vampire babysitting duty. He wants to go somewhere, I'm supposed to go with him, but lucky for me he saw how bad it was and changed his mind." Let's all be grateful for that.

[sith_happened]

"You're babysitting a vampire?" He left the "what the hell?" unspoken, but certainly not unfelt.

[solo_sword]

"Good guy, don't worry," she said calmly. "I'm doing it as a favor through the weekend. Hopefully not longer, or I'll kill him." Or they'd end up bff's, and no one wanted that.

"Angel is going to be very annoyed by all of these other vampires stepping in on his territory of the only vampire who doesn't eat people," Anakin commented. "This one doesn't eat people, right?"

[solo_sword]

"No, he eats people, but it's completely voluntary, there's no killing, and he doesn't do it here," she said with a shrug. "It's been a weird few days."

Anakin wrinkled up his nose. "That seems...convenient for him."

[solo_sword]

"Not really, I guess. He'd been going off some synthetic stuff until the other day. And don't think I wasn't thrilled that that was the day I took over Adrian duty." She was still grossed out. Still.

[sith_happened]

"I don't like that timing," Anakin said, making a face. "Take him pig blood. It's what Vladdie drinks."

[solo_sword]

"It's my temporary place to keep him from getting killed, not to judge." Gross as it was. "You're taking this better than I would have expected." Because yeah, she still remembered the voicemail when Angelus was around, and she knew he'd been involved somehow in whatever had happened last week to start this whole mess anyway.

After speaking with Nick, Raven wasn't feeling as omg vampires are horrible and evil as she had since...well, since her first vampire encounter in the other Fandom. It didn't mean she was going to become a vampire fangirl, just that she was able to accept what Jack and Tony and others had told her about not all vampires being creatures of evil.

She'd continued on to Anakin's office in a slightly better mood. "Good morning, Professor Skywalker," she greeted him.

"You're in a good mood," Anakin observed, sipping from his coffee mug. "Hello."

"Better," Raven said, settling in a chair. "It has been difficult to accept that my mind was tampered with, but I think I feel safer now that we know who was truly responsible. And...I spoke to Professor Chevalier this morning as well."

[sith_happened]

Anakin wasn't nearly as casual as his posture and tone portrayed. "Did you now. What did he say?"

"I wish to find out if he were truly a vampire, and he said he was," Raven said. "But he never made any attempt to harm me while he was teaching me, nor today while I spoke to him, and told me he did not wish to be as he is."

Anakin pursed his lips. "That doesn't necessarily mean much," he pointed out. "Saying 'why yes, I'd love to eat all of you' isn't a great way to continue long term employment."

"I did not sense he was lying," Raven agreed, "though I know I can be misled. His unhappiness with what he was felt very real to me, however, and I offered to attempt to heal him if he wished."

[sith_happened]

"You what?" Anakin yelped.

[trigons_child]

"He does not want to be a vampire," Raven said, "and if it is possible for me to heal him of that affliction, I am willing to do so." Because one less vampire in the world was a good thing!

Anakin resisted the urge to beat his head into the desk. "If he stops being a vampire, won't he just be too old to be alive any more?"

[trigons_child]

Raven shook her head. "It should not work like that," she said. "He would be as a normal living person; it would not make all his years suddenly catch up with him. I would be removing the vampirism, not adding on his age." She had a feeling Nick would take that risk even if it could happen.

"That doesn't seem fair," Anakin whined commented.
