Anakin grinned over at Rory as he lifted Juliet out of her lobster pot and into the car seat. "I don't think I've enjoyed a Friday night dinner that much in a long time," he said.

"I think Juliet had a good time, too," Rory commented, making faces at the wee lobster.

"She certainly was chatty," Anakin agreed, smiling at Rory's faces. "I thought I saw your grandmother almost crack a smile."

"Almost," she agreed. "Juliet just wanted to tell everyone about her awesome costume. She's excited to trick-or-treat."

"Even though she doesn't have teeth, huh?" Anakin teased.

"She told me she's concerned I'm not getting enough candy," Rory replied seriously. "It's okay, Juliet, Mommy will eat all your candy for you."

"That is quite the sacrifice for you," Anakin said equally seriously, sliding into the car.

"Hey, I'm a good mom," Rory said, grinning.

"That is certainly true," Anakin said. "Do I get any hints about what your costume is going to be tomorrow, or is it going to be a surprise?"

"It's pink," she said helpfully. "And short."

"Ooh," Anakin said, eyes lighting up. "And you can wear it at home later?"

"Only if you're a very good boy," she decided.

"I'll give you all of my candy, and let you drive back to DC," Anakin decided. "Is that good enough?"

"All of your candy? Are you going trick-or-treating too?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. "I thought only Wee Miss Lobster was going. I mean, with us carrying her."

"So I wasn't going to get candy too?"

Anakin looked Very Disappointed.

"I was going to share with you," she replied, frowning a little at him.

He smiled back. "Really?"

Anakin didn't exactly have a ton of experience with Halloween.

"Of course!"

She would have given him all the stuff she didn't want, anyway.

He didn't know that part, so he leaned over for a quick kiss. "Thank you!"

"Welcome," she said, kissing him before sneaking a look in the back seat. "I think our lobster is tired."

"It's exhausting being a crustacean," Anakin said, nodding. "Think your grandma will ever forgive the costume?"

"Probably not," Rory said agreeably. "But so what?"

"It's going to become a thing, isn't it? Finding a costume every year to make your grandmother give us that look?"

Anakin didn't seem the least bit upset by that prospect.

"Until Juliet's old enough to do it herself," Rory said happily.

"I love that idea," Anakin said, laughing.

"I think next year she wants to be a Zombie Daughter of the American Revolution," Rory replied.
