Office hours [all day]

After lightsaber practice with Ben, where Anakin had thumped his grandson around the gym because the boy wouldn't stop smirking about the weekend's sparring session with Luke, Anakin hobbled stalked slowly (stupid knee injury) back to his office.

He'd listened to his messages, so he was a little anxious to see if Raven came in today.

The door was open. The Jedi was grumpy. Just an average Tuesday.

"...Yes, Master Skywalker," Hayley said, looking down. "I promise."

"I'll hold you to that," Anakin replied, his tone very much the teacher. "Now. Tell me about your weekend."

"Well, I guess it really started when I ran into Roy," Hayley said. "I wasn't expecting him or anything, and I hadn't even seen him since... since I got arrested."

Anakin nodded. "How long ago was that?"

"About three days before I came here," Hayley said. "It was kinda hectic. They really moved me here fast, after all that stuff."

Anakin nodded again, trying to put the pieces together. "And you don't know why Roy might have been worried about you?"

"Well, we only went out a little bit," Hayley said. "And he ran away that night, he didn't stay or anything. He was happy to leave me with Bianca, then."

Anakin would have given quite a bit to be able to talk to Roy again. "Did he, or did you not want to leave?"

"I... wanted to impress her," Hayley admitted, fidgeting a little.

"Why did you think that was important?" Anakin asked.

"If you ever met her, you'd want to, too," Hayley said. "She was so beautiful, so strong, so amazin'..."

Up went Anakin's eyebrow. "Roy had a different interpretation," he said evenly.

"Well, what he said mighta been true, too," Hayley said. "I... I'm not sure."

"What makes you so uncertain?"

"It's hard to think you were wrong about someone," Hayley said. "Especially when they were so nice to you."

"How was she nice to you?" Anakin asked.

"She told me I looked great, when I... when I dressed up for her," Hayley said. "And the ring. She gave me the biggest diamond you ever saw."

"So she was bribing you," Anakin said quietly.

"Oh, no," Hayley said. "It wasn't a bribe. She said it was to cement our relationship."

"And what did you give her in return?" Anakin asked, a little apprehensive about the answer.

"...I hit Batman for her," Hayley said.

That was really all she had done.

Anakin blinked. "She couldn't hit Batman herself?"

Anakin had met a Batman once. He was a school trustee. He hadn't seemed all that impressive, really.

"Well, he was trying to sneak up on her," Hayley said.

"She was that unobservant?" Anakin replied.

"...I don't think so," Hayley said. "He was pretty tricky. But... I guess she wasn't... perfect."

It was hard for her to say that.
