After his sparring session with Ben, Anakin unlocked the door to his office and began poking around online for ideas of how advanced Juliet should be at things.

Five minutes later, he was involved in a flamewar on a parenting website.

"Remove head from ass, then parent," he chanted aloud as he typed.

The door was open.

"At all," Anakin said icily.

Wow. Her own toes were suddenly very fascinating. "It's awful," she said softly. "In every other way he's still just like the Jacen I've always known, but now there's this, and I don't know if I can do anything to change it. Or if I even should."

"Ask him," Anakin advised. "Maybe nipping whatever he's doing in the bud now will stop Ben's past from becoming your future."

"Maybe I will," Tahiri mused, then muttered, "I'd like to end this trend of turning out wrong one way or another."

"Ben told you about the other Fandom, then?" Anakin guessed.

[weetuskenraider]

"Yeah," Tahiri said, sounding guilty. "I saw Rachel just after she woke up, too, and she didn't react to me too well."

She still had no idea why, on that point.

Anakin winced. "I hope it wasn't because you're Jedi."

[weetuskenraider]

"I think she was okay with that part before," Tahiri replied. "I hope."

[sith_happened]

"You might want to ask her," Anakin suggested, who had vague ideas of what might have happened but wasn't going to spill Raven's secrets.

"I will." She smiled wryly. "There's a lot I need to do but I'm still getting over this timelag."

[sith_happened]

"How long was it for you?" Anakin replied.

[weetuskenraider]

"Close to four months." She kind of looked like it had been, too.

[sith_happened]

Anakin nodded. "I was once gone for six months in the space of one."

He smiled and shook his head a little ruefully. "And eighteen years in the space of a week."

"Ouch. You win," Tahiri said, laughing shakily. "Sort of."

[sith_happened]

"It was a little disconcerting to come back and realize my high school sweetheart was still in high school," Anakin said, nodding.

Tahiri laughed a little nervously. And yet, kind of felt a little better. "Your wife now?" she guessed.

[sith_happened]

Anakin nodded. "We don't do things the easy way."

[weetuskenraider]

"Runs in your family," she said with a slight smile.

Um.

[sith_happened]

Anakin arched up an eyebrow. "Really."

[weetuskenraider]

"Not doing things the easy way, I mean," Tahiri tried to clarify quickly. "I've sort of noticed?"

Good one, Tahiri.

"It's not bad?"

[sith_happened]

Anakin was still staring. "Uh-huh."

[weetuskenraider]

Maybe if she just kind of . . . not quite smiled and looked innocent? "No, honestly."

Well, it was true!

"Goodbye, Tahiri," Anakin said with a tiny smile.

[weetuskenraider]

When provided with a good opportunity to flee like the wind, and boy was this a good one, Tahiri was going to take it.

"Thanks, Master Skywalker," she blurted out.

And then, yes, fled.
