Cranky Jedi was cranky today.

Not that it had anything to do with a conversation he'd had with John at Flight Club yesterday. Nope. Really.

He was poking around jewelry websites and thinking of the friends he'd see over the weekend to try to distract himself.

It wasn't really working.

"Because the damage was already done. And people don't seem to like how I try to solve things," she pointed out.

"Ignoring them, shutting down, or turning to the dark side?" Anakin asked, voice quiet. "Can't say I'm a huge fan of some of them, no."

[solo_sword]

"Okay, how are we back on me?" she wondered.

[sith_happened]

"I'm not entirely terrible at steering conversations," Anakin said with a tiny smile. "And I'm not that interesting."

[solo_sword]

"Well, we need to steer it back because I'm not interested in talking about me some more."

[sith_happened]

"Stubborn child," Anakin muttered.

He pasted on an amazingly insincere smile, then asked, "Have you seen any good holos?"

Anakin sucked at small talk.

[solo_sword]

"No, but I can go back to the gym, so I'm sure that will be taking up more time," she said. "I have some people to talk to about training, getting me back up to speed."

"Would one of them be me?" he asked.

[solo_sword]

"Maybe," she said, and sighed. "I wasn't exactly in the shape to be hitting anything when I went before, and I know you couldn't go easy on me if I tried, so I'd rather not feel entirely pathetic right at the start."

"I wouldn't be trying to make you feel pathetic," Anakin said quickly.

[solo_sword]

"I know, but I know how our fights go."

[sith_happened]

"I'm pretty sure you'd get upset if it looked like I was trying to coddle you."

[solo_sword]

"Oh, I would, even if I don't think you could in that respect," she pointed out.

[sith_happened]

"You go halfway, you get hurt," Anakin said with a shrug. "I've seen it happen."

[solo_sword]

"And I'd rather not see that for anyone," she said. "I'll let you know when I'm ready."

[sith_happened]

"I'll be waiting," Anakin said with a small smile. "See you at the dance."

[solo_sword]

"Have fun," she told him, as long as she never heard about it, and turned to head out of the office.
