33 Apocalypse Avenue [late afternoon]

After a long few hours in the flight simulator (where he hadn't killed John Sheppard (yet)), Anakin put Juliet down for a nap and smiled down at the solemn little boy who had accompanied them home.

"Should we call your mother?" he suggested.

"Fake legs," Aeryn repeated, trying to picture it. "Do I want to know?"

"They were more like sticks?" China said. "I wanted to pull out Artoo's arm to see how it worked, but he squealed really loud and Luke frowned."

"Yes, it's probably not a good idea to pull parts out of Artoo," Aeryn said slowly.

"Because sometimes when he zaps you, you deserve it," China recited.

Oh, so he'd heard this before. "Yes. And you don't want to get zapped, right?"

"It's not as funny when it's you," China said.

Aeryn definitely sounded surprised when she said, "I get zapped?"

"Just once," China said. "Dad went after Artoo with a hydrospanner."

"That... doesn't seem healthy," she admitted.

"Not for Artoo," China replied, "but I got to help put him back together!"

Aeryn managed not to facepalm. Mostly because she was used to handling phone calls between jobs and people tended to give her odd looks when she did it. "That's very good of you, China," she told him. "Listen, I'm almost where I need to be now. I'm going to have to go soon."

"Okay," he said. "Dad promised me cookies for a snack. I'll save you one."

"Thank you," she said, smiling. "Can you put your father on for a microt?"

Anakin took the comlink back. "Hey there."

Not very good with words usually to begin with, Aeryn summed it all up with "Wow."

"This island, huh?" Anakin said, chuckling, reaching over to ruffle China's hair.

"Amazing, I don't even have to be there for this sort of thing to happen," Aeryn said. "You'd think I would stop being surprised by now."

Anakin laughed. "I think I'd be worried if this island stopped surprising me. It'd mean I'd be okay with an invasion of tiny plastic ponies."

"I don't even want to know," Aeryn decided. "And I am where I need to be, so I need to go now."
