Yes, he'd decided that Jaina's Luke's future child was going to be spoiled rotten, so he was back to making toys for a Force-sensitive infant.

He'd welcome an interruption, though.

"That gets you honked at." She spoke from experience.

"Did you learn the correct hand gestures to shoot back?"

[solo_sword]

"No, but I received a couple of them," she said. "I figure if I'm where I want to be, I already won, so why resort to gestures?"

Because Anakin was petty and enjoyed making the gestures. He shrugged. "Point."

[solo_sword]

"I thought so," she said, leaning forward to put the toy back on his desk. "Been having fun with that, I see."

Anakin smiled sheepishly. "It's easier to spoil someone who will never meet you."

[solo_sword]

"You say that like Aunt Mara won't be have that kid attached to her everywhere she goes," she pointed out.

[sith_happened]

"It's easier for me to spoil someone who will never meet me," Anakin amended.

[solo_sword]

"You never know," she said. "Though I'm sure the baby will be more than happy to be spoiled."

[sith_happened]

"The mother might not appreciate who the gifts are from," Anakin said quietly.

[solo_sword]

"Are you forgetting who the father is?"

[sith_happened]

Anakin smiled softly. "Not at all. I just don't really imagine him pushing her on this if she is clearly unhappy with the idea." He chewed his lower lip. "Don't tell her?"

She hadn't been planning on it, but she nodded and said, "Not a problem. I know it shouldn't be too much longer before the baby comes, but I'm not sure when I'm going to be able to actually get back out there."

"No news from the Rogues?" he asked quietly.

[solo_sword]

"No," she said with a sigh. "I'm trying not to be pessimistic."

[sith_happened]

"They haven't forgotten about you," Anakin said. "You're the daughter of two of the galaxy's best flying families."

[solo_sword]

"No, I'm not being forgotten, I'm being ignored. That's worse," she grumbled.

Anakin bit back a smile. She was definitely related to him. "Maybe they're on comm silence," he suggested.

[solo_sword]

She shook her head. "Nope. I think they just can't let me back in," she said.

[sith_happened]

"Why would you think that?" he asked, honestly curious.

[solo_sword]

"The Vong put bounties on all the Jedi. Makes me a liability," Jaina explained, clearly not happy about that.

[sith_happened]

"Strapping into a snubfighter and shooting at the Vong makes them liabilities, too," Anakin countered. "They can't possibly be that stupid."

[solo_sword]

"Politics," Jaina said. "I've only heard some rumblings from some people, but the public isn't really that fond of us right now. And if people are desperate enough, what with all the slaving and planet-destroying, I'd be in a really bad position for anyone to turn me in."

Not that that stopped her from wanting to go back to fighting, she just got where they were coming from and hated it anyway.

Anakin's jaw dropped. "Have Jedi actually been turned over?" he asked, sounding shocked.

"Not that I know of," she answered. "But apparently the Vong have been quiet lately. I'm not sure if that's influencing things."
