Anakin was going to wear a path across his floor if he kept up his pacing.

And the sun wasn't going to set any faster, no matter how many times he checked out the window.

...why yes, Anakin was taking the news on the radio as a personal insult.

His friendship alpha-male off rivalry thing with Angel had always been...complicated. And his hatred for Angelus had never really gone away. Angelus'd nearly killed Rory, after all. Anakin wasn't the kind to just let that sort of thing go.

You know, ever.

So pacing. He figured it was a step up from lifting every rock on the island to figure out which one Angelus had slithered under.

The door was open.

"The part where Angel would admit to being upset should probably have tipped Bel off," Anakin said, pursing his lips. "He'd stoic his way right through a brick wall if people would let him."

He kept pacing. "I don't think Winchester would've done anything to make the class that much more authentic, but I can go ask him..."

If Anakin's "ask" sounded a bit like "beat him", well, Anakin.

"Well, it's Bel," Veronica said. "And Angelus knew just how to push his buttons."

She crossed her arms over her chest. "Why would he let something like that loose on the island? Don't his kids go here?"

"Both of the boys, and his baby's in town, so I don't think he'd do anything on purpose, and he's probably bright enough to not read out of the shiny occult books with cryptic symbols on it," Anakin replied. "But his students might not be."

"He'd be a pretty lousy teacher if he didn't teach his students not to do that," Veronica pointed out.

"You can tell the students not to do a lot of things," Anakin said. "It didn't tend to stop any of us when we went here."

Veronica smiled. "That's very true," she agreed.

"So do you think Winchester might know something?"

"I don't know," Anakin admitted, "but it can't hurt to ask. Maybe he noticed something shift during class. Angel's not that good of an actor."

"No, but Angelus definitely is," Veronica said, biting her lip and looking at the floor as she remembered how she'd been duped.

"Hey," Anakin said quietly. "You weren't the only one. And I was trained to look for evil."

Veronica nodded. "Doesn't make it easier. Especially when I feel like this is my fault."

"You'll have to take a number, I think," Anakin said. "Rory's got herself convinced it's her fault. And I'm not exactly feeling blameless."

"Did she encourage him too?" Veronica asked.

Anakin nodded. "It's kind of eating at her."

"I can relate," Veronica said.

"Well don't," Anakin said firmly. "He made his own choice."
