"See anything?" she asked softly.

"I see a lot," Anakin said, smiling up at her, "just no bug bites."

He kissed his way up to her mouth. "Do you want to borrow one of my shirts?"

"Maybe," Rory said. "On one condition."

"I'm not wearing yours," Anakin said, rubbing his nose against hers.

"I want you to keep not wearing one," she murmured.

"That I can do," Anakin murmured back.

"Good boy. Man," she corrected, sliding her arms around his waist and kissing him.

Anakin nipped at her lower lip. "I like to see you happy."

"You make me happy. Very happy," she murmured, nudging her nose against his.

He cupped her face between his hands. "I worry," he whispered.

"You have no reason to," Rory replied, beaming.

Some of the shadows Anakin fought so hard to keep out of his expression snuck back in.

"Keep telling me that, all right?" he said, holding on tightly.

"There's a song about that, you know," Rory said solemnly. "I won't subject you to it. I'm happy."

"Good," Anakin murmured.

Then, because he didn't know better, he asked, "what song?"

"You really don't want to know it," she warned. "It'll get stuck in your head and never go away."

"Worse than Ever the Same? I'll pass, then," Anakin said, making himself comfortable...ish, on the trunk. "Do we have any junk food left?"

"It's...um, in the trunk. I have gum in my purse, though," she replied, stretching.

He reached to pull her back. "It's not important," he said. "Besides, it gives an excuse to pull over for ice cream in another few exits."

"Oooh, ice cream," Rory said happily. "Though if we don't get going, it'll be tomorrow before we're home. Which means it'd really just be easier if I crash at your place...."

"Are you looking for an invitation, love?" Anakin asked. "You're always welcome."

"Not for dirty," she added. "I think dirty's beem covered, and since I can't sleep on the drive since someone drives like a bat out of hell, it'd just be for sleeping. But...I like waking up with you."

Anakin's lips curved up. "I know the feeling," he said softly, leaning in to kiss her.
