"You're going to get pulled," she replied, her knuckles white as she held onto her book.

"Pulled into what?" Anakin asked.

"Over," she said. "Pulled over. For speeding."

"I'm not going that fast," Anakin griped, but he eased off of the accelerator anyway.

"For me?" Rory tried, breaking out the big eyes.

"I'm below 95 now," Anakin said, pointing to, unfortunately, the wrong sign on the highway.

"Sweetie, that is the interstate number," she sighed. "65. Speed limit. Please?"

"Fine," Anakin said, sounding deeply aggrieved, "but when the first elderly woman passes us, I'm speeding up again."

"You do that and we're never having sex."

"What if you can't tell it's an elderly woman?" Anakin weedled. "What if it's just two hands on the steering wheel and a bun?"

Rory glared. "No roadside makeouts, either."

"With the old woman?" Anakin teased, grinning at her.

"Man, I'd planned to ask you to pull over in a little bit so we could snuggle and stuff," she sighed. "You're just dooming yourself here."

Anakin pouted. "I'm going slow."

"No, you're really not going 'slow,'" she corrected. "Just slower."

"For me, this is very, very slow," Anakin said. "Cut me a break?"

"I'm trying," she said, chewing her lip.

Anakin moved one hand from the steering wheel and onto her knee.

"I appreciate it," he said softly.

"Taking a hand off the wheel isn't going to help," she noted, but she didn't move his hand.

Anakin gave her knee a little squeeze. "Do you need a break from watching me drive?"

"Maybe," she murmured. "What do you have in mind?"

"Something distracting," Anakin said, lips quirking up.

"With the car stopped?"

"Of course," Anakin said. "I'm not completely insane."

Rory just gave him a look.
