Ye olde shuttle parking [mid-morning]

Anakin was sitting on the ramp of the shuttle, rereading the checklist he had made for his date with Rory tomorrow for the fiftieth time.

Force help the person or thing who might manage to mess up the schedule he'd planned out.

"Hey, you," Rory said, wandering up with two cups of coffee.

Anakin beamed up at her. "Hi."

"You're in an alarmingly good mood," Rory noted, going to give him a quick kiss hello.

Anakin turned it into a slightly longer kiss before pulling back. "I have a date with a beautiful woman tomorrow," he said. "You might have heard about it."

Rory handed him one of the cups. "I did hear something about that. Got anything planned?"

Anakin stuffed the datapad away. "Nope," he lied. "I figured I'd wing it."

"I'm sure she'll be happy either way," Rory replied.

"I want it to be perfect," Anakin murmured, cheeks flushing pink.

"Are you attending said date?" Rory asked, sitting down next to him.

"That was the plan, yes," Anakin said, smiling over at her.

"Then you've got the 'perfect' angle covered."

Anakin rubbed his nose against hers. "It's good to know you've set the bar nice and low," he teased, eyes sparkling.

"What can I say, I'm a cheap date," she murmured, kissing him. "You, me, some semblance of seclusion and I'm all set."

He rested his hand against her cheek. "But first out in public where the squirrels can see us," he murmured.

"Take me somewhere where I can hear you," she said, "and you'll have yourself a happy Rory."

"So I have to talk, too?" Anakin said, pretending to go wide-eyed.

"You're the one who said that we have to go out and can't just make out in the shuttle all night," she smirked.

"Mondays we make out in the shuttle," Anakin said with a grin. "Keep up, Gilmore."

"'Scuse me for thinking it's fun enough to do two days," she said, smiling.

Anakin moved in for a quick kiss. "I love your definition of baby steps."

She blushed and moved a little away, dodging the kiss. "Sorry. It's just -- I don't know. Difficult. I still want emotional baby steps. But...the pace we're going feels right."

Guilt flashed in his eyes. "I wasn't trying to make you feel bad," he said softly. "I apologize."

Rory reached over and took his hand. "Want to go flying?"

"Please," Anakin said, standing up and linking their fingers together. "It's something I know I can't accidentally screw up."

"You didn't, sweetie," she said, wandering up the ramp with him. "I just don't want you to think I'm...well, Whorey. You know I wasn't like this with Bridge. Just you. It feels right to move fast with you."
