The playground corner of the park [Saturday afternoon]
Anakin was on a bench by the playground equipment watching his two children as they played.
Christopher ate sand. Anakin smiled.
Juliet jumped off the step side of the slide--Anakin caught her with the Force and smiled. Juliet blinked: that was not the expression she'd expected from her daddy when she did something that reckless. Being half Skywalker, she immediately beelined for a tree twice as tall as the slide to climb up and jump from.
...and Anakin smiled.
Mellow Anakin might be creepier than scary Anakin.

Which was probably weird in and of itself.
"Juliet! Be careful up there!" she called, catching sight of what her daughter was doing. Christopher's chosen snack would get some attention in a moment.
no subject
That was patently untrue.

Sand, Rory. You've heard about sand before, right? It's coarse and gets everywhere, et cetera.
no subject
You don't seem concerned about that, Anakin.

Seriously, Rory had gone to school here. She had a pretty good idea of what kind of grossness could be in that sand.

And, naturally, Chris began to wail. Because sand was his favorite, okay?

"It's okay, little man," Anakin said. "Keep looking around. Sand gets everywhere. It's probably already on the cookies."
Thanks, Anakin.

She really doubted it but this was weird. Usually it was a competition to see who was the more highly-strung of the two of them on any given day.

Which was a little weird.

And wouldn't be letting either of the kids do what they were attempting.

"Edgy is so...work," Anakin complained. "I'd rather just relax in the moment. Meditate. Drink tea."
no subject
To Rory, this was nigh-criminal.
"We are coffee people, Anakin."
no subject
What.
no subject
Rory was staring at him, almost in horror.

No, not really, Anakin.

Rory hated being the bad cop, ugh. Juliet, meanwhile, was looking between her parents and trying to decide who to listen to. Daddy seemed more fun, but Mom would actually stick to the whole 'grounded' thing, hmm.

Anakin chuckled. "Chris, we should send you to Tatooine to get your fill."
no subject
And, you know, common sense.
