Anakin had kept his monitor back on the station in Panem, just to see. He wasn't expecting funeral services or an explanation of what had happened after the screen went dark, and he wasn't surprised to find nothing but a constant stream of propaganda coming out of that country: the ruins of a District 13, commentators discussing how terrible things were before the Capitol, etc., etc.

It gave Anakin some hope that the Districts hadn't been as complacent about the killing of their tributes as the Capitol had been planning

He was in his office, drinking coffee and expecting more visitors than usual today.

"I've been better," Anakin admitted.

[solo_sword]

"Yeah," she said quietly. "I'm sort of amazed everyone's not still camped out here."

[sith_happened]

"I think the togetherness was getting to be a little much," Anakin replied. "I'm planning on checking in on the ones I don't see in here today."

[solo_sword]

"Yeah, at least a few days of distance is good. Some of them might even be adjusting by now." She doubted it, but she hoped it was true. "...Are you still watching?"

He nodded. "Just to see if there's ever an explanation for where the Games went," he said. "So far, nothing."

[solo_sword]

"What are they saying instead?" she wondered.

[sith_happened]

"A lot of emphasis on how horrible things were before the Capitol gained control with bonus footage of the charred remains of what used to be District 13," Anakin said.

[solo_sword]

A little lopsided grin crossed her face at hearing that. "I knew it," she said.

[sith_happened]

"I'm not certain it proves anything," Anakin replied.

[solo_sword]

Jaina shook her head. "I'd put money on it," she insisted. "Something's either started or about to. First the Johanna thing, then after Katniss does that... You don't put out propaganda like that unless you're trying to stamp something out. At the very least, the Capitol has to be afraid of that."

[sith_happened]

Anakin nodded. "They blasted an entire district off the map 75 years ago," he said. "Would they do it again?"

[solo_sword]

"Possibly," she said, spirits dimming a bit as she began processing the possibilities. It was all strategy to her, really. "If the people do stand up and say 'Stop making our children battle to the death,' which frankly, I hope they do, the Capitol is going to have to do something drastic to make them afraid again. And then it all depends on whether or not anyone backs down."

"There aren't really great options here," Anakin agreed.

[solo_sword]

She nodded. "It's either going to get probably bloody, or things will stay exactly the same," she said. "But with my admittedly limited knowledge of things, I have to say I hope they take the first option, horrible as it is."

[sith_happened]

"Rebel," Anakin said fondly.

[solo_sword]

"Yeah, I know, I'm turning into my mother," she nodded.

[sith_happened]

"Not always a bad thing," Anakin replied.

He didn't even take the opportunity to tweak Leia about her taste in men.

[solo_sword]

"Not at all," she agreed. "Though I'm probably more pragmatic about it than she would be."

Actually it could be interesting to get her mother's take on this, if Jaina decided she felt like sharing.

[sith_happened]

"Well, if you come up with any brilliant suggestions, I'm all ears," Anakin said.

[solo_sword]

"Suggestions about what do to about it?" she checked.

[sith_happened]

Anakin nodded. "I don't have enough information to go in there and just take a lightsaber to everyone involved in the Games."

And generally that ended badly.

[solo_sword]

"Yeah, there's not enough intel to go on right now," Jaina said. "If they're just gearing up for a revolt or revolution, they can always be spurred towards it, though the ethics of that are a little iffy since there's no way it wouldn't end in a lot of dead people. But if they're already going for it... It really should come from them. The most we really should do is assist where they need it."

Anakin nodded. "We don't start wars," he said. "That ended very badly for my Jedi."

[solo_sword]

"Yeah, when we start them, we're doing something wrong," she agreed.

"Always," Anakin said. "We wait for them to start shooting, then we make them regret it."
