Office hours [all day]

Anakin had kept his monitor back on the station in Panem, just to see. He wasn't expecting funeral services or an explanation of what had happened after the screen went dark, and he wasn't surprised to find nothing but a constant stream of propaganda coming out of that country: the ruins of a District 13, commentators discussing how terrible things were before the Capitol, etc., etc.

It gave Anakin some hope that the Districts hadn't been as complacent about the killing of their tributes as the Capitol had been planning

He was in his office, drinking coffee and expecting more visitors than usual today.

Jaina was really glad that by the time she wrapped things up at home, leaving the second she was able, she got here on office hours day. This office was also her very first stop, as evidenced by the bag over her shoulder.

Also, she was slightly damp when she got to his door. "No one told me you moved," she said.

Anakin blinked. "Oh, the weather! Yes, welcome to Japan in the future, where it is rainy and depressing."

It kind of suited his mood perfectly.

"Oh, just what everyone needed," she said dryly, dropping her bag and coming over to hug him, wet or not.

Anakin hugged her back tightly. "Hey there."

"Hey," she said, hugging him back just as tightly. "Should I ask how you're doing?" Since the Skywalkers were a repressy bunch.

"I've been better," Anakin admitted.

"Yeah," she said quietly. "I'm sort of amazed everyone's not still camped out here."

As promised, Gabrielle came by the office fairly early in the day; she had her travel satchel slung over her shoulder, since she planned to head back home as soon as she was done here.

"Is there anything new?" she asked as she waited in the doorway.

"Nothing that mentions what happened after Katniss shot the forcefield," Anakin replied. "It's been all propaganda all the time."

Disappointment flickered across Gabrielle's face, but -- typically for her -- she reached past it to find a point of hope. "All the time? The trick with the . . . force field must have them really nervous."

Anakin nodded. "That was my initial thought, too. Plus if you're showing old footage, there's no need to put up what's happening right now."

Where they'd be stupid to record it, Anakin wasn't adding.

"But," Gabrielle mused, tapping a (still very ink-stained) finger against her lips, "if they keep that up long enough people have got to start asking themselves questions."

Whether they acted on those questions was an entirely different matter, but she didn't have the emotional wherewithal to be that cynical.

She pulled herself up short. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to go off on this subject again, I just . . ."

Couldn't help it, basically.

"It's all right," Anakin said quietly. "At least half of the reason I wanted to see you all is to provide you a place where you could talk about what happened without needing to provide background."

Warren... pretty obviously hadn't gotten much of that sleep he'd promised to get. He'd been eating, at least, which was half the battle. Right? Maybe?

He still looked twitchy as hell as he stopped by Anakin's office to check in.

"Sorry, are you busy?"

"Not at all," Anakin assured him. "Come in, Warren."

Warren nodded his head before stepping into the office, his eyes on the floor.

"Thanks," he murmured, trying a little smile on for size. It was... weak, at best. Warren figured the floor wouldn't mind, considering that was the direction it was pointed. "How are... Things?"

Warren was terribly eloquent today.

"Things are...progressing," Anakin said, which was about as helpful. "You haven't slept, have you?"

"I tried," Warren offered, glancing up for a moment before his gaze dropped again. "I got some sleep the other night? But last night was kind of spent... Uh... Not."

Worrying. Last night had been spent worrying.

There was another moment's pause, and then Warren looked up again. "Tell me about the progress?"

Please?

"It' nothing we really wanted to hear," Anakin warned. "There's not been a word about Katniss or the fate of the other tributes."

Luke really wasn't all that comfortable with visiting a teacher outside of class, but he felt like he should probably speak to Anakin after everything that happened. He stopped by the office early in the afternoon and knocked on the door frame.

"Are you busy?"

"Not at all," Anakin replied, glancing up. "Come in, Luke."

Luke walked in and took a seat, trying not to show that he was generally uncomfortable with these sort of situations. "I was wondering if you've been able to hear anything from where Katniss was from. Can't help but be curious over how her government's doing clean up after those Games."

"It's been all propaganda all the time," Anakin said, pointing to the monitor, "and nothing at all about how the Games ended. I think they're scrambling to come up with a plausible explanation that isn't 'and the tributes got sick of this bullshit.'"

Luke couldn't help but smile a little at that explanation. "I guess that's something, at least. People who are already prone not to buy into Capitol bullshit will be able to see through that pretty easily."

Anakin nodded. "I'm worried about what those people might be up to right now."
