Anakin's office [early Monday morning, before classes]

Anakin, who had been running on the power of coffee for the last week, hadn't stopped watching the Games since the last shipment of bread had been delivered. There had been interviews with the survivors' families: Anakin was looking only to see Katniss's sister and to check that she still had all of her fingers attached.

He rubbed at his eyes blearily as the games began again, steeling himself for another day of devious, horrifying death. They were down to eight. Things were going to get even uglier.

"I will." She wanted to talk to him more in-depth, to check on how he was, but she wouldn't do that in front of anyone else, especially the kids. They were going to be looking to him and the other adults, and she wasn't about to push things. She'd get there, and there would most definitely be hugs, and they could talk as much as they needed to, and that would have to do.

"May the Force be with you." Somehow that seemed important right now.

Anakin bit back a dozen bitter responses about how the Force should have been with Katniss where it might have done some good, but he'd known that this was going to be the end result of the Games for some time and at least she'd gone out on her own terms.

It didn't make her a less dead teenager, though.

"And with you, my Jaina," he murmured.
