Anakin's office [early Monday morning, before classes]

Anakin, who had been running on the power of coffee for the last week, hadn't stopped watching the Games since the last shipment of bread had been delivered. There had been interviews with the survivors' families: Anakin was looking only to see Katniss's sister and to check that she still had all of her fingers attached.

He rubbed at his eyes blearily as the games began again, steeling himself for another day of devious, horrifying death. They were down to eight. Things were going to get even uglier.

Karla hadn't even pretended to sleep, she'd stayed glued to the screen all night. She'd tried to eat a little the night before, but it had sat like a lump in her gut.

Another day for tea then.

And tea she would have. Ghanima set a slightly larger stone cup next to Karla, and filled it to the brim. "You will drink it before it gets cold," she informed her youngest apprentice, gently. "Or you will drink it cold, and then have another."

"Yes, Lady Ghanima," Karla murmured obediently, almost grateful for the order. It gave her something to do, something she didn't have to try to think of herself.

Though after taking it, she spent a lot of time just staring into its depths before taking the first sip.
