The Beach [late afternoon]

The sun was beginning to go down and Anakin was finished with his office hours. It was time for a friendly spar with his alternate-universe son.

You know, as so many families do.

Ben had found a rock to sit on and observe, looking faintly embarrassed by the entire proceeding.

The Second Annual Skywalker Family Lightsaber Duel and Sulking Contest was about to begin.

After hearing about last year's duel from Ben, there was no way Karla was going to miss this year's. She even took the liberty of popping some popcorn for the event.

...Those several bags were lying blackened and slagged in a garbage can in a common room. Fortunately, T&C's carried popcorn, too.

"This is going to be epic," she said, delightedly.

...It was probably best for both Skywalker men if they didn't know she was referring to the amusement value.

Ben sighed. "They are so weird," he said. "But they're both really good at this."

"Does your dad have any idea how Anakin's been preparing for today?" Karla asked with a grin. She offered him the bowl of popcorn in sympathy. "At least it isn't Lucivar?"

Ben took a handful of popcorn. "I let him know that Granddad had really been looking forward to it," he said, "so that should be a good warning."

"Your family is such fun," Karla said cheerfully. "There should be a big dinner afterwards so they can hug."

"Can we check to make sure that everyone has limbs attached first?" Ben teased.

"What--no one thought to bring a convenient tank of bacta along for this?" Karla snorted. "Next year, I'm in charge of preparations."

"We keep going in circles about which galaxy one should come from," Ben said, grinning. "In ours, we're still building up the supply after the last war. In Granddad's, he doesn't exactly have the pull to demand one."

"Maybe I should let Raven know that your grandfather is in danger," Karla teased. "She'll teleport here in a minute and we'll be all set in case someone's limbs go flying."

Ben laughed and shook his head. "She really likes him. It's weird."

"Are you just not ready to face the fact that your grandfather is a teenage heartthrob?" Karla asked.

It was an opportunity impossible to pass up.

Karla was a horrible friend person.
