The Beach [late afternoon]

The sun was beginning to go down and Anakin was finished with his office hours. It was time for a friendly spar with his alternate-universe son.

You know, as so many families do.

Ben had found a rock to sit on and observe, looking faintly embarrassed by the entire proceeding.

The Second Annual Skywalker Family Lightsaber Duel and Sulking Contest was about to begin.

Luke shrugged out of his outer cloak and smiled at Anakin. "This really isn't necessary, you know," he said for probably the fifth time.

"It will be fun," Anakin said with a slightly predatory gleam in his eyes, letting his cloak puddle to the ground like Obi-Wan taught him and igniting his lightsaber.

After hearing about last year's duel from Ben, there was no way Karla was going to miss this year's. She even took the liberty of popping some popcorn for the event.

...Those several bags were lying blackened and slagged in a garbage can in a common room. Fortunately, T&C's carried popcorn, too.

"This is going to be epic," she said, delightedly.

...It was probably best for both Skywalker men if they didn't know she was referring to the amusement value.

Ferus was here for two reasons: One, Anakin surely could not try to kill him in so public a venue. And two? He wanted to see how one-half of the Jedi's last hope had turned out.

So here he was, watching, and using the Force to project an aura of 'harmless bystander' about himself.

"They're quite good," he commented, deliberately stating the obvious.

Leia looked over at the Harmless Bystander, who she had never before seen in her life, really. "They are," she agreed. "Do you know my father?"
