Anakin was writing up his impressions of his current Ethics students in preparation for Parents Weekend. He'd decided that giving himself a time-cushion of a week meant that he could observe the students who hadn't made a huge impression more closely in this coming class so he could tell their guardians how much improvement they needed.

Anakin was a giver that way.

The door was open.

If Raven took a route to Anakin's office that did not pass by Sherlock's office, it was just coincidence, really.

"Good morning, Professor Skywalker," she greeted him. She was so going to tattle.

"Good morning, Raven," Anakin replied, smiling at her. "Come in! How has your week been?"

"It has been mostly pleasant," she said, coming inside and sitting down. "I am helping to plan a visit to London for a group of students. The onions that appeared in my room were most disagreeable until I helped them find the source of their unhappiness and stop harassing others. And I met one of the new professors and sadly found him as disagreeable as the onions."

"Come back to the onions later," Anakin decided. "Which professor have you found...disagreeable?"

Anyone else hear kettle drums? Anyone?

If Anakin hadn't heard about the onions yet what she said had probably sounded very strange.

"Professor Sherlock," Raven tattled said. "He is not currently teaching me, nor will I seek out his classes now. I had stopped to visit him, however, because the radio had said he'd been harassing Jono and I wanted to request him to stop if it were true. He was not a nice person at all, I found."

Anakin's lips pursed. "Really. What did he say to you?"

Raven frowned, replaying the conversation over in her head. "He said he found Jono fascinating and that he enjoyed bothering him, which I found very distressing. And he said that all the students were idiots." Well, Anakin might be able to bond with Sherlock over that at least. "He insisted on dismissing us all as fools without even knowing anything about us. And then he claimed to have insight into my feelings and tried to provoke a strong emotional reaction out of me, though I warned him that such a thing could be dangerous."

"So he's not without his own idiocy," Anakin commented dryly. "Interesting. I'll have a chat with him."

It would probably start like most of his "chats" with Max.

"I am not certain how much good it will do," Raven said, shaking her head. "He is very stubborn and seems set in his negative beliefs. He would not even accept that there was evil in the world that he could not possibly imagine." But if he'd pushed her harder he might've gotten a glimpse.

"Fandom will change that for him really fast," Anakin replied, "but I would be happy to enlighten him first."

[trigons_child]

"He is extremely insightful," Raven warned. Just not always correct, of course, because he'd been totally wrong about Jono. Totally. "He seems to possess an uncanny ability to say what will bother a person the most."

[sith_happened]

"Then he's going to get punched a lot around here," Anakin decided. "Most people are heavily armed, heavily trained, or both, and not fans of being bothered."

Raven nodded. "I did try to warn him of that," she said. Then because she felt the need to confess what she'd done, she added, "I fear he is very upset with me. I told him that his feelings were very muted, except when he was speaking of his friend, Dr. Watson. They were much more vivid to me then, though mentioning this caused Dr. Watson some distress. I was too aggravated with Professor Sherlock to care at first, and I felt very guilty afterward. I should not have said anything."

Leia hadn't seen her father in a few weeks, so she decided to pay a visit to his office that afternoon. "Busy?" she said, leaning against the doorframe.

"Nothing that can't wait," Anakin said, face lighting up. "How have you been?"

[likes_scoundrels]

"Good. Mostly." The conversation with Ben was still troubling her a little. "I've been busy with studying and catching up on what's going on back home and I realized I hadn't seen you in awhile."

Anakin's eyes searched her face. "Right. What's bothering you?"

There were advantages in being empathic when dealing with parenting issues. Well, at least right now.

Jedi parents suuuucked.

"Knowing too much about my future," she said. Which was mostly her own fault since she kept pushing for details, but she wasn't going to admit that part.

"What did you learn?" Anakin demanded, overreacting just a little.

[likes_scoundrels]

She was almost tempted to ask "What's the worst thing I could learn?" to see what his response would be, but that would either make things worse, or more likely, he wouldn't give her any response.

"Just my son dying young," she said. Really. Nothing big.

Anakin bit back the instinctive reply of "Which one?", instead asking, "Tell me about it?"

"I met Anakin the same weekend as my mother," Leia said. She'd just tucked it far far away at the time.

"So did I," Anakin said, looking a little haunted for a moment. "And now you're wondering about changing things."

It wasn't that hard of a guess.

She was her father's daughter.

"I don't know how I'm supposed to just let him die," she said. "I don't know if I can."

Anakin tapped his fingers against his desk before finally speaking. "When I was a little older than you are now, I had visions of my mother in pain," he began quietly. "In my time, Jedi had no contact at all with their family once they entered the Temple. I'd left her, still a slave on Tatooine, when I was ten years old. I was convinced that if I got to her quickly enough, I would be able to change things. Why else would I be getting the visions?"
