Secluded bit of beach (yes, there's still some left, shhh) [afternoon]
Rory had met Padmé and had liked her. His namesake, deceased, grandson was somewhere on the island.
Anakin needed peace, and he found himself on a familiar spot of beach--the place he'd come when he was a teenager and had found the crashing waves soothing.
He closed his eyes, reached out into the Force, and tried to find calm.

"I had a vision that your grandmother would die in childbirth," he said finally, "and I was terrified to lose her. So I listened to someone who told me exactly what I wanted to hear, helped to destroy an organization that had stood for peace and justice for a thousand generations...and she died anyway, along with our child. Or so I thought at the time."
He gazed down at his hands. "And once they were gone, there didn't seem to be much point in living."
He looked back at his grandson. "It's hardly a good reason."

Not that they'd had much of anything to go by as far as Anakin Skywalker's personal perspective on the matter was concerned, so it couldn't really be helped.

Which was not something he'd ever made a particular study of, beyond his own lifelong worries about the Dark Side.

He was matter-of-fact about it; there wasn't any bitterness there.

This was the most honest Anakin had ever been with anyone about this part of his life--he'd figured there was no point in holding anything back from the dead.

He sat up a little straighter and tried to look his grandfather in the eyes. "From everything Tahiri's told me, and from talking to you now, I can say it was definitely an honor to be named after you despite all that."

Of course, Uncle Luke could forgive just about anything, but that went without saying.

He sounded...resigned.

"It won't last forever," he offered.

Which sounded so cold, under the circumstances. "Besides, visions of what might be are hard enough to deal with. This . . ."

Han, Anakin. Say it.
