Normal people would use a week off of classes as a reason not to hold office hours but Anakin had never been accused of being a normal person.

He was in his office as usual, working on ideas for his new class.

The door was open.

"Lady Aphrodite was not herself," Raven said, folding her hands in her lap. "We were able to restore her, and she is well now. It was not without difficulty but I am fine."

Anakin arched up his eyebrows. "You lost control."

[trigons_child]

"I did," Raven said unhappily. It stung her pride to have to admit that. "I was not strong enough to channel the rage of a goddess."

[sith_happened]

"Repeat that," Anakin said, "and really listen to what you just said."

[trigons_child]

"I was not strong enough to channel the rage of a goddess," Raven obeyed. "I did not realize just how angry she was. I should have known better."

It was all Karla's fault, really.

Anakin sighed. "You didn't think that maybe trying to match powers with a goddess might be a fool's errand?"

Not that it was going to stop him for even a second from marching down to yell at Aphrodite when he had a chance, but that was him. He was hoping his students were smarter than him.

"She is a goddess of love, not anger, or war," Raven said meekly in her defense. "And she is my friend." That was the most important for her. She was willing to risk a lot to help a friend.

"I am sorry I have disappointed you again," she said quietly. That was the worst part.

"I just wish you'd thought this through a bit more," Anakin said, sighing again. "Are you all right?"

Yelling would come after the important things.

"I believe so, yes," Raven said. "I was concerned about my state of mind but I did not destroy the Brotherhood of Evil when they attempted to torture me and exploit my fears, so I am relieve that my ability to control my demonic side seems intact."

A little background might've been appropriate there, Raven.

Watch Anakin. Watch Anakin stare. Stare, Anakin, stare.

"What?"

"After what happened with Lady Aphrodite, I left the island to visit Gotham, the city that was my mother's home before Azarath," Raven began to explain. "While I was there I was attacked by a group calling themselves 'The Brotherhood of Evil.' They wanted to know something about Sebastian, but I had no idea what they wished to know. One of their members was a woman who called herself Phobia, and she was able to draw out my fears and make them seem real, though they were not pleased with the results."

Raven paused. "There was also a giant gorilla and a disembodied brain atop a robot body. It was very puzzling." After everything that had happened, that part was still bothering her.

More staring.

Finally Anakin went with what seemed like a good place to start: "Brotherhood of Evil? Really?"

Raven nodded. "I told them it was a stupid name," she said. "Evil does not know brotherhood! And the outfits they wore were very foolish as well."

"When you go evil, you fashion sense--along with your conscience--is the first thing to go," Anakin said sagely.

[trigons_child]

Basic black was so much nicer. And a cloak was just stunning!

"Aside from the woman, there were three others," Raven continued to explain. "A man who could create warps in space and transport others against their will, another man who seemed to use science and voodoo magics to cause pain, and a creature made of pink molten lava." Yes, pink. "And the gorilla and the brain. They wanted to know 'the secret of Brother Blood,' but I had no idea what they were speaking of."

"You're home dimension is very odd," Anakin decided. "Do you believe Brother Blood to be a person?"

Her mother's home city was protected by a man who dressed in a cap and cowl with pointed ears. Odd was an understatement.

"It is a title, and a person," Raven said. "Sebastian lays claim to it now, but according to what Dinah found out for me, he is the eighth such one to hold it. His father did before him. This Brotherhood must know of his attempts to claim me and assumed I knew something that I do not think I know. But I think they will leave me be now, for I frightened them."
