Skywalker Residence [Saturday afternoon]

If you asked Anakin, the entire backyard looked like it had been drenched in pink glitter, as was only appropriate for Juliet's first birthday party.

Relatives down from Connecticut mingled around the tables of munchies--both child and adult appropriate munchies--as Juliet made her first toddling steps in the grass, falling over every three paces. The center of the table held Juliet's elaborately frosted birthday cake.

There was a bouncy castle that took up an entire corner of the yard (don't ask if Anakin had jumped on it (because the answer was yes)), and a slightly intimidated-looking man in the other corner holding a pony by its reins.

Yes, Rory and Anakin had gone a little overboard, but did you really expect anything else from them?

Leia had spent the morning shopping -- and dealing with horror at almost all the toys for girls being entirely pink and/or centered around cooking or cleaning or caring for children. Of course she wasn't going to pass by an opportunity to spoil her little sister.

Cally arrived, Nicky held carefully in her arms. This was one of those things that she figured normal parents did.

She hadn't really gotten any real 'normal parenting' in on New Caprica or the Galactica. So don't mind her if she looks a little nervous for reasons other than seeing old friends for the first time in years.

It was a party, so Deadpool was there with freakin' bells on. Okay, so it was a party for kids, but that wasn't gonna stop him from taking full advantage of the bouncy castle.

"We're throwing a bigger party for her third birthday, ya know," Deadpool informed Nate. Because competitiveness was always fun.

So Jaina might have been wholly uncomfortable at a one-year-old's birthday party. Especially since it had involved too much time in a toy store, and for someone who didn't have a ton of patience to begin with, oh boy had that been fun. She was still there, and kept in mind that she'd have to leave early to get to work and make sure she didn't have to beat Tino with the A/C or anything before opening up.

Xander and Bridge did not grab a portal from THE FUTURE just for the bouncy castle, no matter what certain cat-eared scientists might have implied when they were requesting the time off.

Zoe was not about to miss the chance to celebrate the birthday of one of Fandom's actual weetiny children, partly because she was proud of Anakin and Rory, and partly because she wanted to steal ideas for Grace's birthday party. She could accomplish two missions at once, thankfully.

Grace had on a brand new dress and had actually let Zoe put barrettes in her hair without tearing them out. For a parent, this seemed to be progress.

Pony Ride!

Rory already decided they should. She'd named it, after all, and at one point was carefully setting Juliet in front of her on the pony. It was the only way Juliet would ride, and please, Rory was like a hundred pounds. Pony could handle it.

Bouncy Castle!

Yeah, so fine, Jaina got in the bouncy castle, but only because she was twenty credits richer and knew anyone who made comments about her being small enough to be in here with any kids knew they were getting hit for it.

Actually, it was pretty good exercise. If she thought of it that way, it wasn't so bad. See, Luke, smiling.

Oh, of course Leia had gifts. She had a wee tiara for Juliet, because she was an honorary princess. And there were glow-in-the-dark stars to decorate her room (she might've been inspired by her father's display of their home galaxy in his office), and an easel and organic finger paints (Christian would approve, but Rory might want to kill her for that), as well as a book that deviated from the standard princess fare (and yes, the irony of the princess tiara did occur to her, but it totally didn't count).

She also had a bear she'd gotten to help stuff herself and dress up in a passable Jedi Knight outfit. Going overboard, it seemed, ran in the family.

On a limited income, Jaina couldn't do a ton in the present department, but she had managed to get a playset and a... toy thing.

She'd never admit it, but she totally got noisy things on purpose.
