Office hours [all day]

Anakin was in his office, adding new holos to the frame of family pictures that had made its way back to his desk (it wasn't like he had any shots of Padmé in there, and the ones of Luke were kind of buried by the sheer number of baby pictures of Juliet).

Soft Corellian instrumental music was playing, and the door was open.

After he was done fussing with the photos, he'd be looking up how to babyproof the apartment.

Poor Juliet. The hamster ball might not be completely out of the question.

Raven had gotten up early to check on her small army of Dobermen Pinschers and make certain they were warm and fed. She'd found a rescue shelter on the mainland where she would bring them later, after her weekly visit with Anakin. For which she was now arriving. "Good morning, Professor Skywalker," she said, still in a fairly good mood due to the success in saving Dinah last night, and despite her fall from the loft.

"You're in a good mood," Anakin observed with a smile. "Come in."

"I was successful in helping to save a friend in trouble last night," Raven said as she stepped into the office and sat down. "Dinah was abducted but she is safe now."

Anakin reached up to rub the bridge of his nose. "She was abducted?"

Perhaps someday Raven would learn how to ease into the more distressing details of a story. But it was not this day. "She and Momoko -- Blossom -- were attacked while they were in Baltimore," she explained, "and Dinah was taken by a woman who was seeking revenge on Dinah's family for harm she believed they had caused her sister. Blossom returned for help, and we were able to find Dinah and bring her safely back to Fandom."

"So it wasn't from Fandom," Anakin said. "Good. Well, not good that she was abducted, but...good. Did you have to do anything violent?"

"There was fighting," Raven said with a slight frown. "I attempted to take the anger and aggression from Dinah's kidnapper, but she realized what I was doing and struck me, and I fell. But I am all right, as are Dinah and the others who helped save her. And the dogs. I saved them as well when the building began to collapse." The APSCA would be so proud.

Jacob had been intending to, you know, forget all about what Anakin had told him in class. It'd be so much easier, but then he did remember and Sam would probably hit him over the head for not accepting the help. Even if Jake was a natural at this, like they all kept saying.

Ugh.

Anyway. He did remember and so after class, he ended up right at Anakin's office. "Professor Skywalker?"

Anakin glanced up and smiled. "Mister Black. Come in."

Being addressed like that was just funny and he grinned a little as he ducked into the room. His eyes darted around for a moment, taking in the office and the pictures and weird thingies before he focussed.

"You said to drop by," he clarified, just in case, or possibly because he could avoid mentioning the whole meditating thing.

"I did," Anakin said, shifting the 3-D projection of his family out of the way. "Would you like to sit down?"

"Sure, sure," he nodded and took the seat opposite the desk. Now that Anakin was moving the thing, he couldn't quite help the remark. "Those are cool."

Anakin smiled proudly. "Thank you. I like to tinker. This is the way holos are displayed at home, so I modified a digital frame...and you probably have no interest in that at all."

He tapped his fingers against his desk. "Have you tried meditation before?"

After a couple weeks off, a nicely tan Jaina was knocking at the doorframe. "I see I'm interrupting thrilling things."

"It's hard to believe that they used to use me in bedtime stories for younglings, isn't it?" Anakin said with a slight smirk. "I haven't smuggled myself aboard a freighter in longer than I care to admit."

[solo_sword]

"Well, you've gotta move over and let the kids do it eventually," she said, taking a seat. "That's what happens when you get old."

"I'm not old," Anakin said, making a face.

[solo_sword]

"Sure you're not," Jaina said easily. "Glad to be back?"

"Not as glad as my mother-in-law is," Anakin said with a little smile. "I think we were driving her insane."

After class, Sam made his way to Anakin's office, and practically beamed at him. "Hey, do you have a minute?" he asked.

"Of course," Anakin said, waving him in. "What's going on?"

For all that Sam had tried to plan how to tell Anakin the good news, what he ended up with was, "Uh, guess what I did over spring break."

Anakin's eyebrow cocked up. "What?" he asked, a little afraid of what the answer might be.

There was no reason to be afraid! It's not like Sam ever gets into trouble.

"I found Peter," he said. "He's alive. The explosion...I still don't know exactly what happened, but Peter's alive."

"He survived an explosion?" Anakin replied, blinking rapidly.

Then he smiled. "That's wonderful news."
