Some ridiculously expensive restaurant [Georgetown, Sunday night]

Anakin smiled at Rory across the candlelit table before picking up his wine glass and holding it up. "Happy Valentine's Day," he said. "You look beautiful." His smile widened. "As usual."

After almost a week snowed in with Juliet, he wasn't sure if he was allowed to feel almost giddy with excitement about having time alone with his wife, but he was anyway. And he didn't even mind wearing a suit out to get that time alone.

"Dork," Rory commented affectionately, holding her glass up in turn.

Under the table, Anakin slid out of his shoe and moved his foot to nudge at Rory's ankle like when they'd been dating.

Glancing around the packed restaurant, he smiled again. "It's almost like the rest of the city was as anxious as we were to get out of the house."

"I bet they weren't all stuck indoors with babies, though," she commented.

"Not that she isn't normally the most adorable thing in the entire galaxy, but...I wouldn't wish to repeat that experience soon," Anakin admitted.

"No? You didn't like the endless howling?" Rory wondered.

His foot slid up her leg. "It was delightful," Anakin replied. "Especially when Vladdie joined in."

"He doesn't like being left out," she said, winding her ankle around his leg.

He grinned mischievously and slid his foot higher. "Think he's ever gotten over Juliet coming home and staying?"

"I really think he thought she was just visiting," Rory noted thoughtfully.

"That's going to be one disappointed puppy," Anakin replied, sipping from his glass of wine.

"He likes her," she assured him. "She's his size!"

His foot inched up higher as he grinned again. "Something else that will upset him in a few months when that changes."

Rory squirmed a little before protesting, "No, she's staying little. And non-mobile."

Too much? he teased, while continuing to speak aloud, "Oh? Have you had a chat with her about that?"

She just gave him a narrow-eyed look before replying, "Yes. She's agreed to stay tiny and quiet and non-walky."

Anakin shot her a very innocent look in reply and smiled. "That's very convenient for us, then. Have you decided what you're going to eat?"

"I haven't," she said mildly, looking down at the menu. "I've been a smidge distracted."

His foot moved again. "Only a smidge? I must be doing something wrong."

"Understatement," Rory murmured, sliding her foot up into his lap.

"Cheater," Anakin said, voice hitching up a little as he pretended to peruse the menu again.

You're going to make me use drastic measures, he warned.

"You started it," Rory replied aloud, shifting a bit.

"It's Valentine's Day," he said, "and we don't have the baby with us. It doesn't happen that often."

"Only about once a year," she said, smirking at him.

And that started his foot moving again. "I think we should fix that."

"We'll go broke with teenage extortionist fees," Rory murmured, curling her toes.
