Another Thursday, so another opportunity for Anakin to rip his syllabus apart to make sure he wasn't going to screw up his daughter's timeline.

An email was open on his laptop. He'd been trying for weeks to write to Luke about what was going on and had only gotten to:

and that wasn't really all that coherent.

His door was open.

Raven was anxious to tell Anakin about the information she'd received about her father, so she showed up even earlier than the usual time she came to visit. "Good morning, Professor Skywalker," she greeted him.

Anakin glanced at his chrono. "You're early," he said with a smile. "Good morning."

[trigons_child]

"There is something important I wanted to tell you," Raven said. "I received word about my father."

[sith_happened]

Anakin turned his full attention on her. "What did you hear?" he asked.

[trigons_child]

Raven sat down, doing her best to suppress the spike of fear she always felt when thinking of her father. "Sunday night, I was meditation when I was contacted by a man who claimed to be a sorcerer," she said. "He knew who I was and said that he and his comrades had long opposed my father, but had failed to stop him from opening doorways to new dimensions to conquer. He said my father plans to come to Earth's dimension soon, and that they will attempt a ritual to stop him. With my help, they think they can succeed this time."

Anakin had a very bad feeling about this. "How did he know who you were?" he asked.

Raven felt foolish now for agreeing to help Alligorr without thinking this all through. But at least she hadn't run off immediately. "I do not know," she confessed. "I did not think to ask him. But I sensed nothing sinister from him."

"That doesn't mean it's not there," Anakin said, a lifetime of experience with the Emperor painting his words. "What did they want from you?"

[trigons_child]

"Their ritual to ward away Trigon has failed each time," Raven said, "but they believe that if I were to participate as a link to my father, it would finally succeed, and the Earth and its dimension would be spared."

[sith_happened]

Anakin didn't like the sound of that at all, and it showed in his expression. "What does the ritual entail?"

[trigons_child]

"I am not yet certain," Raven said. "They said they would send word to me. I will try to find out more. If these people have opposed my father in the past, there may be information in Azarath about them. I am not supposed to be allowed to return there, but I may be able to do so unnoticed."

[sith_happened]

"You'll be careful."

It wasn't really a request.

[trigons_child]

Raven nodded. "I do not wish to be tricked into accidentally serving my father," she said. "But if these men speak the truth and there is a chance I can protect this world from my father...."

[sith_happened]

"There needs to be more than just a chance," Anakin said firmly. "And you need to know the specifics of the ceremony. You're not giving blood to a random man who claims to be working against your father."

[trigons_child]

"I will find out more before I agree to participate," Raven promised. "And I told Karla I would also request that I be able to bring others to observe." Because a group of teenagers was less likely to get into trouble than one. Right?

[sith_happened]

Oh, definitely.

"If they need you this badly, you should be able to set the terms," Anakin said, nodding. "Who would you take?"

[trigons_child]

"I have not thought that through yet," Raven said. "But I will surely tell you who."

[sith_happened]

"It should probably include an adult," Anakin said. Subtly.

[trigons_child]

"Would you accompany me?" Raven asked. Anakin was certainly the adult she trusted the most.

[sith_happened]

"Of course," Anakin replied immediately.

And helpfully kill anyone who tried to hurt her. In a diplomat way, of course.

[trigons_child]

Raven smiled. "Thank you," she said. "I would be grateful for your presence."

[sith_happened]

"After we learn exactly what it is they want," Anakin said. "No need to be reckless."

And somewhere Obi-Wan was laughing his incorporeal blue butt off at Anakin saying that.

[trigons_child]

"Yes," Raven said, nodding again. "I will see if I can access the knowledge in Azarath, and I am also going to ask Dinah for her help, as her world is very similar to mine, and she helped me find out information about Sebastian Blood after his visit."

[sith_happened]

"Be cautious," Anakin warned. "The small things that differ between worlds can lead to huge problems."

[trigons_child]

"I will," Raven said. "I hope they are sincere and this will succeed in barring my father. I do not want to see harm come to Earth or Azarath if there is any way I can prevent it."

[sith_happened]

"I don't want him showing up to subjugate a planet for Parents Weekend, either," Anakin said with a very tiny smile, "but let's make sure the plan is sound, all right? Remember what I said in class about needless self-sacrifice."

[trigons_child]

"I remember," Raven said. "But would a sacrifice be needless if it protects so many others? Not that I am intending to do such a thing."

[sith_happened]

"We'll see how sure these men are," Anakin said, "and we'll decide from there. Does that sound fair?"

[trigons_child]

"Yes, very fair," Raven said. "I do not want to do anything foolish."

[sith_happened]

"And I'd rather not have anything foolish happen to you, so that works out nicely all around," Anakin declared.
