Anakin was running a little late today, having served as a Santa in Aeryn's class.

Even without the suit, he was still hearing Christmas bells everywhere. That, added to being shot this weekend (and thank you so much, creepy, dyed-hair Dean), put him in a truly excellent mood.

The door was open, though.

"You don't seem all that excited about the prospect," Anakin observed.

But Cable was huge and, well, parts of him blinked. Anakin wouldn't be all that thrilled either.

"Timeline stuff," Bobby informed him solemnly. Hey, the guy was a Skywalker, he'd understand, right?

Anakin nodded. "Is he from before or after you?" he asked. "Or a different universe all together?"

He'd had some of each, yeah.

"After," Bobby nodded. "There's still- a few years before he'll be born, I think."

Anakin's lips quirked up. "Got to love Fandom. I sparred with a grandson I won't have for at least twenty years today."

He turned back to the more important question. "So where's the problem? Will helping you disrupt some sort of timeline?"

"I don't know," Bobby said, drawing his coat closer around himself as he shivered a little. "Mostly it's just- weird, he makes me nervous sometimes. Definitely his father's son," he babbled nervously. This all made him miss Professor Xavier even more keenly; if he were still around, this whole teaching issue wouldn't even be a question.

"That sounds rather ominous," Anakin commented quietly, picking up on Bobby's nervousness. "Would you rather talk to someone else?"

"M-maybe," mostly, he was tired of just feeling so freaking cold all the time. "I did make a promise, so I guess I should. I'd rather just... I'd rather not have this at all."

Anakin really understood that feeling.

"Unfortunately, I'm also not an expert at time travel," he said with a tiny smile. He cocked his head. "Would you like to borrow my cloak, or have me adjust the thermostat?"

"Oh, no, that's okay," Bobby shook his head. "I mean, you can turn the temperature up, if it's bothering you- the problem's me, really."

Anakin's smile grew a little broader. "This is far from the most uncomfortable I've ever been, believe me. I'm fine."

Anakin wouldn't have admitted there was a problem if his fingers had been in danger of falling off, either. He didn't want Bobby to feel even more upset.

"Are you taking someone other than Jean with you when you see Cable?" he asked.

"Probably not," he shook his head. "She's this close to dragging me there, I think."

"It certainly beats being cold all the time, though, right?" Anakin checked.

"Guess so," Bobby said unenthusiastically. "I haven't been cold since I was twelve. It's weird."

"How did you fix it then?" Anakin asked.

"Mostly? I just... got used to it, I guess," he shrugged. That had been before Professor Xavier and Scott had come along. "But cold can't actually hurt me, not really. It's more the accidental icing stuff that's a problem," he had to admit.

"People, things or both?" he asked.

"Both," Bobby replied. "Not that I have iced anyone," ...here, at least. "But I *could*. And that scares me."

"Which was why you missed class?" Anakin concluded.

Bobby nodded. "It wasn't safe. *I* wasn't safe to be around. I can make up any work I missed, of course."

"We discussed what you learned as a parent for a few weeks," Anakin said, then smiled a little wryly, "and the importance of not ignoring your gifts."

"I don't know if I'd call my powers a 'gift'," Bobby said with a bitter expression. "Problem, maybe."

If you were looking for optimism, Anakin, well, was Anakin.

That is, really, really bad at optimism.

"A problem you have to learn to live with, then," he replied. "I don't think if you ignore it, it will go away."

And he still thought that advice was more helpful than Yoda's.
