Anakin was still not a fan of August, dammit. After making a slightly belated call to Luke for his birthday (which was always going to be wrapped up in Padmé guilt, unfortunately), he settled into his office with a hugely complicated doodad to take apart and reassemble, mostly to keep his hands busy (and away from the basket of muffins Rory had sent him to school with. They weren't for him).

Every now and then, he'd look at the door rather anxiously. He expected there might be some students with questions.

Raven was hovering in the hallway -- not literally (she only did that sometimes when she meditated). She'd managed to get herself to come down to Professor Skywalker's office, but the hard part was actually managing the final three steps toward the door. Still struggling with guilt and shame over what had happened in the other Fandom? Whatever would give someone that idea?

"Raven, it's all right," he called softly. "Come in."

She took a slow, deep breath to steady herself and stepped through the doorway. "I am sorry," were the first words out of her mouth.

"What do you possibly have to apologize for?" Anakin asked, eyebrows shooting up.

[trigons_child]

"I lost control," Raven said quietly, eyes on the floor. "I tried to use my gifts to cause you harm."

[sith_happened]

"You called my wife," Anakin countered quietly, "and calmed her down."

He pulled out the muffin basket. "This is from her." He gave her a rueful smile. "She says thank you."

[trigons_child]

"I realized she would be concerned about you," Raven said. "When I awoke here in our true Fandom, I thought I could ease her mind by letting her know that you were well and thinking of her." She was touched by the gift. "Please tell her she is most welcome."

"I didn't know you were going to end up back here," Anakin admitted softly. "I thought you were just...gone."

Raven wrapped her arms around herself. "I thought so as well," she said. "And I welcomed it."

Anakin's eyes were tormented. "I'm sorry you had to go through that."

"I have never felt more my father's daughter than at that moment," Raven said softly. "I hold no anger toward you for striking me down. After all that happened to her -- to me -- there, I could not control myself. Please, do not blame yourself. It was all my failing." Helped along by Liir, Tahiri, and Max, but ultimately all her own.

Anakin waved his hand and closed the door to his office with a quiet snick. "It wasn't all your failing," he replied. "It was a lot to deal with, and I wasn't able to help you in time. For that, I apologize."

"My other self allowed herself to be drawn down that path," Raven said, shaking her head. "She did not have you to teach her, and instead of friendship with Liir and Tahiri, she was tormented by them. And then she surrendered herself to one of the vampires and allowed him to corrupt our gifts...." Her shields couldn't keep some of her shame and fear of that from leaking out.

"We've moved on from the droid, I see," Jaina noted from the doorway.

[sith_happened]

"It's heavily armed and at home," Anakin confirmed, rubbing his forehead. "Hi."

[solo_sword]

She stepped inside. "Hi. Just bored, or are you arming this, too?"

"I was looking for something to do," Anakin replied. "This keeps my hands busy." He gave her a small smile. "No weapons."

[solo_sword]

She took a seat an noted, "Yet. It's you. I fully expect them."

[sith_happened]

"After last week, I'm laying off weapons for a while," Anakin admitted.

[solo_sword]

"I missed that. Remind me not to take vacation ever again." Oh, ha. "What happened, anyway? An alternate universe thing?"

[sith_happened]

Anakin nodded. "Turns out that without Obi-Wan or Rory in my life as a young man, I turn into a humorless asshole."

Pause.

"More so, yes."

[solo_sword]

Well it was no fun when he stole her comments. "How do you know about it?" she wondered.

[sith_happened]

"I ended up in a Fandom overrun by vampires for the weekend," Anakin said. "As far as vacations go, it wasn't one."

[solo_sword]

Huh. "Yeah, certain things I've heard are starting to make a lot more sense just with that..."

[sith_happened]

"What have you heard?" Anakin asked, leaning forward. "I can fill things in from there."
