Skywalker Apartment [afternoon]

He'd arrived home very late the night before, still half-expecting to find Rory dead. At the time, all he'd been up to doing was holding his daughter and his wife and trying not to fall asleep.

Since it had been a really, really long week, that plan didn't last, and Anakin had fallen into a deep, troubled sleep, full of horrible memories--parts of the Clone War mixing with life as Darth Vader merging with time in a Fandom full of death and pain.

He woke up late in the afternoon, screaming.

"Always yours," she murmured, biting his neck.

Anakin moaned. "Harder?" he whispered. He was feeling like he was going to need visual reminders for where he was right now.

"And faster," she gasped, her nails digging in against his back.

Anakin shivered and moved faster, reaching up to grab the headboard.

Rory pressed her face against his shoulder, trying to hold on and wait for him.

His breath went ragged against her neck as stars began to form behind his eyelids.

"Rory."

"With me with me with me," she chanted, biting his neck so they wouldn't wake up the baby.

Anakin shuddered hard when she did that--the man was a little obsessed with the tactile--and replied, "With you."

He would have been proud of his coherence if he'd been able to form coherent thoughts right then.

Rory stopped holding on, shuddering under him as everything went hot and bright and wonderful.

Seriously, this would never stop being the best ever.

"I love you," he finally whispered, curling up behind her.

"Love you too," she sighed, drawing his arm around her.

He let out a contented sigh. "I missed you so much."

"Missed you too," she mumbled, stretching a little.

"But I should be home and untraumatized for the rest of the summer," he said with a little, slightly forced laugh. "The island comes in cycles."

Rory held his arm tighter around her. "I know. I'll just hold tight 'til fall. There's a thing coming up that we could go to? At Disneyland. If you want. We could take the baby and show her off and see John and Aeryn and everyone. Might be nice, after all this."

"Will I have to wear a hat?" Anakin asked warily.
