Talking with Ben was as effective as beating his head into a brick wall, Anakin reflected sourly, especially if he tried to turn the subject to what his grandson had up to while he'd been home. He'd gotten much better with a lightsaber in the intervening time, and if Anakin were a talkative man, he would have pointed out how much that worried him.

"You wished to speak with me about something?" he asked Ben as he sat down and gestured to the other remaining chair.

Anakin nodded. "Force knows he'll have plenty of reasons to walk away," he said. "But it's Luke, so he won't."

"I bet you would have some really interesting talks with Professor Atreides."

"We had fun kicking the crap out of each other on Sunday," Anakin said, grinning.

[solo_sword]

"I don't know that that counts as talking," Jaina said dryly. "I had to be a kitten for it." Grumble grumble.

"And you still took Ronon on," Anakin said. Hell yeah, he was proud of her.

[solo_sword]

"Hardly," she sighed. "I really wanted to square off with him, too." Of course, she had ulterior motives.

"Any particular reason other than him being an annoying human being?"

[solo_sword]

"Long story," Jaina said, not sure how much John would want out there. "I had him for a class once. I didn't find him so annoying."

"That's because you never sang duets with him," Anakin grumbled.

"And because of that he probably finds you just as annoying?"

[sith_happened]

"But I'm not annoying," Anakin said. "Just unlucky."

"That'd be a word for it," she said. After all, if the gremlins liked Skywalkers so much, he really would be the jackpot.

"But I haven't been in a kitten in several weeks, so I'll count my blessings," he teased.

"I was a happier-looking kitten," she frowned.

[sith_happened]

"I don't like being a kitten as much," Anakin said. "It generally involves bells and ribbons and getting chased by Vladdie."

"I didn't like being a kitten," she pointed out. "And last time there was a bow." It was purple.

"And you fell into a coffee mug," Anakin said, grinning.

"Can we not talk about that?" she asked, turning a little pink. She could never tell him how she almost drowned in the fish tank.

His grin grew larger. "I suppose if I mentioned 'adorable' in any context, there would be pouting."

"I don't pout." It looked weird on her. "I, however, could bring up stories about you as a cat. Is this genetic?"

[sith_happened]

"I hope not, but I'm not that optimistic," Anakin said.

[solo_sword]

"Guess we'll have to see if Ben turns into anything," she mused.

"What color ribbon should we have ready?"

What a good grandfather he was.

She was still mad at him. "Blue," she said immediately.
