Office hours [all day]

After leaving a message for Ben, Anakin was parked in the center of his office surrounded by pieces of metal.

He was making one heck of a complicated baby toy for a Force-sensitive baby.

He hadn't decided if it would be going to little Ben or Baby Skywalker yet.

The door was wide open.

"Good," Jaina said, maybe a little proudly. "They're mostly vets by now, but it's a nice cohesive team, and Jag's got them working in my absence. We've yet to lose anyone and are conducting raids pretty regularly."

"Congratulations," Anakin said proudly. "I used to have a squadron, but it's been decades."

[solo_sword]

"I wouldn't mind being there to actually enjoy having it," she admitted, "but thanks."

[sith_happened]

"Relish it when you're home," he said. "But I can't say I'm sorry to have you around here, too."

[solo_sword]

Jaina couldn't exactly say she wasn't sorry to be here, but that sort of thing probably wouldn't go over well. "When I am here, anyway," she said instead. "I think I'm getting back to the point where I'm half living there, half here."

[sith_happened]

Anakin nodded, eyes a little sad. "I'll miss you when you do go."

[solo_sword]

Oh, that really wasn't what Jaina wanted to hear from anyone these days. "Oh, let's not," she said, shaking her head. "I mean, I'm here."

[sith_happened]

Anakin smiled. "Sorry. Didn't mean to get melancholy. I spent a few hours on Endor the other day and I didn't kill Jar Jar. It's been a good week. How about you?"

[solo_sword]

"Went home. Thoroughly abused my status for a grade. Got promoted, came back, am currently way too busy, so... about the usual."

[sith_happened]

"Promoted?" Anakin beamed at her. "Really?"

[solo_sword]

Jaina nodded, smiling a bit. "It's about time, really." She was still internally gleeing.

[sith_happened]

"Of course it was," Anakin said firmly. "You're brilliant. How do they do ranks now? Are you a Commander?"

[solo_sword]

"Major. I have a few more promotions to go before Commander," she replied.

[sith_happened]

"Still," Anakin said, grinning, "that's a major achievement."

Beat.

"Pun not intended."

[solo_sword]

"You know, I don't think I believe that," she admitted. Look, it meant she was giving him credit for being able to make a joke on purpose.

[sith_happened]

"Rory might've worn off on me," Anakin admitted.

[solo_sword]

"When it comes to punning, I think that needs to stop," she decided.

[sith_happened]

"Half the people in this school wouldn't believe you if you said I'd made a joke anyway," Anakin teased.

[solo_sword]

"Yeah, but I know. That's enough."

[sith_happened]

"I'll go back to being completely humorless as soon as possible, then," he said.

Ignore the smile.

[solo_sword]

"As is good and right. I hear there were tiny Ewoks," she said.

[sith_happened]

"There were," Anakin said. "Rory now wants an Ewok nanny."

[solo_sword]

"Sure, if you want the kid to speak in nothing but 'yub' and 'nub' to talk about you behind your backs." She so would have done that as a kid.

[sith_happened]

"I could learn Ewok," Anakin said.

[solo_sword]

Jaina opened her mouth to tell him that was ridiculous... but found that that very reason made her say, "It's worth a shot."
