Anakin had a bad feeling about today. He kept putting his hand on the back of his neck to rub at the hair there, certain he was being watched.

He hoped that the feeling had nothing to do with the news he had to share with Jaina, Ben, and Luke. He left oh so handwavy messages for them, then stared at his comlink, trying to figure out exactly how to tell Luke he was going to be a big brother.

Tyler hadn't really expected Anakin to be in his office, but it looked like the day he had picked almost at random was a good one. His match with Anemone the night before had put him in a bit of an odd frame of mind, with static sounding like voices at the edges of his thoughts, but it had also reminded him of a question he hoped Anakin would have the answer to.

"Hey," he said, sounding a little tired. "Do you have a minute?"

Anakin tilted his head and frowned, then waved Tyler in. "Sure."

"Have you heard from River Tam since she left?" Tyler asked, stepping easily into the office. "She was supposed to get in touch about something, and she hasn't and ..." He shook his head. "I'm worried some advice I gave her went bad."

Anakin stared down at his desk, reliving his fight with Kerrigan. "I haven't heard from River," he said shortly. "I don't think we're going to. What did you tell her?"

"Doesn't matter if we aren't going to hear from her," Tyler said, keping his voice steady. "Some demolition plans, that's all."

Because clearly that had been a great idea. A voice in the back of his head was very amused.

Anakin tilted his head again. "Kerrigan had other plans, it seems. How are you?"

Message or not, Jaina still wasn't big on communicating yet, so her visit was a little on the reluctant side. She was feeling weird and restless today, and she'd really rather deal with that than anything else.

Which may have been why when she arrived, she led off with, "Did you really Force-thwap my boyfriend in front of me?"

"He asked for it," Anakin replied. "I see you're not a cat today."

Nothing got past him, nope.

Tyler was starting to wonder about that headtilt thing. Ear infection? Brain tumor?

"Ah." It sounded like there was a story there, but he wasn't sure he wanted to know it. "I'm okay. It hasn't been a great week, but I teach tomorrow, so ..." He waved a hand vaguely. "And you?"

"For a whole day now. And that still doesn't make the John thing okay," she told him.

"It's had its ups and downs," Anakin said, rubbing the back of his neck and refraining from turning around. It was almost like he was picking up a Force-echo of himself, and that was impossible.

It was beginning to creep him out.

"Rory's pregnant." His entire face lit up.

"He asked for it. Aloud. Not in a 'he's being irritating, think I'm smack him' way." Anakin shrugged. "I didn't hit him that hard."

That will be very comforting.

"If I told you to smack me, would you?" she asked.

[sith_happened]

"It depends if you needed it."

No.

[solo_sword]

"You would not," she said. "And you realize I was right there, right?" Albeit distracted by something shiny, probably.

He shrugged.

It was probably as close as she'd get to an apology.

"I'd call that an up," Tyler noted, managing a smile.

Well. He wouldn't, but most people would.

"Congratulations to you both. When's the new Skywalker coming around?"

Anakin raised an eyebrow, sensing the direction of Tyler's thoughts. "June," he said. "What was wrong with your week?"

Jaina mostly managed not to roll her eyes. "So what did you want to see me about?"

Anakin smiled. "Rory's pregnant."

[solo_sword]

She sort of stared, not quite sure she'd heard right, and waiting for him to say what he actually meant to say because that couldn't have been it.

He let the silence hang there for a moment before adding, "Really."

Ben rapped nervously at the door jamb. "You wanted to see me?"

Every line in his body showed how little he wanted to be there.

It was hard to actually make Jaina speechless, though this did it. Luckily her shields were almost always up high enough these days that he probably wouldn't get wind of the Ew that seemed to be most prevalent in her brain, and she definitely wasn't letting him feel that this wasn't exactly thrilling for her.

"Huh."

"No, no, please," Anakin said, looking a little hurt, "try to contain your excitement."
