Office hours [all day]

Anakin was in his office catching up on radio broadcasts for the last few days--one of the only disadvantages of living off-island.

The mood he was in would depend on which broadcast you caught him listening to.

And who you were.

The door was open.

"Leia doesn't hear the radio," Anakin replied. "I'm sure any discussions with Gavin and Jaina about babies would change her mind. Do I need to bring out the sex lecture again?"

John rolled his eyes. "Gavin and I were talking about Ben and he brought up babies. Not me." The kitten swatted a paw up at Anakin's hand. Of course, if he was smart and kept petting she might involuntarily start purring.

"Ben is definitely not allowed to have babies," Anakin declared, completely missing the point as he continued petting Jaina.

Jaina purred adorably before noticing a string dangling dangerously from Anakin's sleeve and going into stalker kitten mode, her eyes narrowing to follow the string's movement and her head ducked low in concentration.

"What, don't tell me you're not ready to be a great-grandfather?" John stupidly teased.

Anakin's sleeves moved as he gestured. "Don't make me smack you," he said, shaking a finger at John.

"Well, you might want to hold off on the violence. At least until Jaina's done attacking your sleeve," John suggested, gesturing at the kitten who'd been wriggling her rump wildly and was suddenly leaping from the mug to bat her open paw at the string. "Wouldn't want to miss me."

"Who said I'd use my hand?" Anakin asked, watching Jaina with barely concealed amusement. "I excel at multitasking."

John should have known better than to wonder how Anakin would smack him. "Now I'm curious," he admitted, no longer paying attention to the way Jaina rolled away from the string to stare between the two of them.

Anakin looked at Jaina. "Remember, he asked for it," then reached into the Force to thwack John --fairly gently-- in the head.

"Hey! That wasn't even inventive," John complained, having expected a stapler or something interesting to come flying across the desk. "No fair calling that multitasking."

He raised an eyebrow. "You're encouraging me to throw things at you."

John thought about that for a moment before leaning forward to scoop up the kitten and deposit her on his shoulder. "Chalk it up to lack of oxygen," he replied. "The kitten seems to think sleeping on my head is a good idea."

"Explains the hair for once," Anakin commented.

"Ha." Eyerolling came far too easily in Anakin's presence. "My hair does this naturally, okay? I have no control over it." As his attention was split unfairly, John felt a little kitten paw smacking against his ear as a reminder that he had jobs here.

Anakin smirked.

It might have even been at the kitten.

"Uh huh."
