Office hours [all day Saturday]

Anakin had a bad feeling about today.

It hadn't been improved by listening to the radio last night.

So there he was in his office (not that he was avoiding his in-laws, but knowing the terrain was important and they could damn well come to him), banging hard on something made of metal.

He'd say that it was part of his new speeder bike.

He'd picked it entirely so he could bang on something.

The door was open.

[OOC: As is the post. Students, family, random passersby...he's an equal opportunity crankypants.]

"If that were the case my parents would still be alive," Layla responded. "And some of my friends would have never been violently attacked. There are a million evens that make up the future. If you start pulling threads on a sweater just because you don't like the way it looks the sweater will just make it fall apart. What's the point of getting what you want when everything you do will eventually unravel."

She shook her head. "No. The ends wouldn't justify the means if it meant saving someone just because I might like them."

Layla gave Anakin a look. "I'm not a topic for your class to discuss. What I can do has real ramifications and it's not something I take lightly."

"So then I guess I should ask you the same question," Layla said quirking an eyebrow. "Have you ever attempted to change the future for your own personal gain?"

"Then how will I ever benefit from your wisdom?" Layla asked oh-so-innocently.
