Office hours [all day]

Anakin was in the office finishing up his grading.

Which meant that he was more than a little eager for a distraction.

Any distraction.

[OOC: Open, especially for departing seniors, arriving alums, and family members who would like to traumatize him...]

La la, pushing papers around...

Totally staring out the window, yes...

In case anyone needs that kind of time distinction...

Jamie stopped and stuck his head into Anakin's office with a somewhat sheepish look.

"Hey."

Anakin gave him a small nod. "Good morning, Jamie. Where's your other self today?"

"Not sure exactly," Jamie said entering the office with a package under his arm. "He's picking me up tomorrow morning over on the causeway."

He kind of shuffled his feet for a second. "So. Um. What happened in the woods? I just wanted to thank you for being there to stop me from doing something I would have regeretted."

"I'm glad I was there in time," Anakin said gravely, "but I'm not sure you would've gone through with it."

"Well, I was pretty freaked out," Jamie replied still looking a little troubled at the though. "But it looks like I'm just going to be away from the summer but I wanted to drop by and say thank you for your help this year."

He then reached in his coat pocket and pulled out a slighty chewed up rubber ball and tossed it toward his mentor.

"Anyhow I just thought I'd give you a little memento from one of our mentoring sessions."

Anakin snagged the ball out of the air with a mischievous grin on his face. "No one at home would ever believe that I played fetch with a student of mine," he said.

"Not to mentioned cheating at fetch," Jamie said with a mock scowl. "That hovering ball thing was totally unfair."

"Oh, the totally unfair cheating thing they'd believe," Anakin said. "Just not the voluntarily interaction."

Jamie chuckled at that until the package under his arm shifted a bit.

"Oh! Wait," he said putting the package down on the desk and then going out to the hallway to retrieve the helmet he wore to Ethics one day to imitate a former teacher as Darth Madrox.

"If you ever run into the old Ethics teacher, could you make sure he gets this? I'm sure it would have immense sentimental value," Jamie said with a grin.

For a split second, something panicky flickered in Anakin's eyes before he regained control of his emotions.

"He's never coming back," he said firmly, "but I'll be sure to find a place for...such a gift. Do I want to know the reasoning behind it?"

"You mean the reason why I dressed up like him in the first place?" Jamie said with a chuckle. "I don't know. The guys was so uptight. I just thought maybe if he could learn to laugh at himself he might lighten up a little."

He shrugged.

"I don't think it worked but you can't blame a guy for trying."

Anakin's smile widened just a tiny bit. "I don't suppose you can. The 'annoy someone back to the light' tactic has proven to be surprisingly effective."

"Really?" Jamie said. "I'll have to remember that."

Jamie was already thinking about how he could try those tactics out on Pietro.

"Anyhow, thanks for all your help this year. Will you be back in the fall?"

Anakin nodded. "Luke will still be here. I'm not going anywhere. You'll be back then?"

"That's the plan," Jamie said. "If not I'll just duct tape him to a chair and make a getaway. See 'ya in the Fall!"

Anakin stood up and held out his hand. "May the Force be with you, Jamie," he said.

Jamie shook Anakin's hand and lacking any cool catchphrases he went with his favorite Sci Fi program.

"Never give up. Never surrender."

Anakin cracked up. "Never wear unflattering jumpsuits," he concluded, his own mental addition when he watched Galaxy Quest.

"I'll do that," Jamie said heading for the door. "Thanks again!"

"See you in the fall!" Anakin replied, then got back to ~~playing solitaire~~ work.

A shy girl with thick, curly hair poked her head in the door. "Um. Hello?"

Anakin gave her a small smile. He had a feeling about this...

"Hello."
