Anakin opened his office door.

And stared.

Someone had redecorated.

Anakin stomped around the office examining streamers on the ceiling and paint on the wall, then the glitter-bestrewned Farrah Fawcett poster, and finally flounced over to sit in his chair.

With its pink boa.

He waved a hand and started up his little galaxy of stars, then picked up a pen that had been decorated with feathers--all of his pens had been decorated with feathers, what the hell?--and hoped no one visited today.

Though that didn't seem very likely.

"In a school known for its oversharing, that is very considerate of you," Anakin said with a sly smile. "Okay, I'm going to give you a memory of mine. Try to block it."

He close his eyes and remembered their dance at prom, the music that was playing, the dress she was wearing, and they way he was not very good at dancing.

Then he tried to send her the entire memory.

Isabel tried flipping the mental switch back into the off position but she couldn't help getting a flash of twirling? It took her a second but then she laughed.

Anakin flashed her a smile. "You weren't supposed to see that," he admonished.

"I didn't get much, just a little bit of twirling and how can I ever forget that?" she smiled. Isabel pictured the off switch again, this time imagining it off and cold, with no power at all. "Try it again. I'm ready."

Anakin smiled, then closed his eyes and pictured their first telekinetic pillow fight. He projected that towards her and waited for the reaction.

"I don't have a clue," she shrugged. "I turned off the switch. It seems to be working."

Anakin grinned. "Very good," he praised. "Want to try again? I'll put a bit more pressure into the memory."

"Oh absolutely," Isabel nodded. "Just to make sure I've got it down."

Anakin nodded, then sifted through his memories and picked out saying goodbye to Isabel back in the summer--emotional baggage and all--and hoped she blocked the thought as he hurled it at her.

"Oh wow," Isabel muttered. "You win. Jedi trumps alien. I'd forgotten how much that week sucked."

Anakin dropped his head, suddenly shy. "Sorry. I wasn't really expecting you to feel all of that."

"No, it's okay," she assured him with a weak smile. "I mean I'm trying to figure out what the limits are. Obviously that's one. I suppose I won't randomly pick stuff up. But if someone deliberately tries, I'm not strong enough to stop them. At least not right now."

"I'll make sure Luke knows," Anakin said with a small smile. "Blocking it will just be a matter of practice."

"Thanks. My head's been messed with enough lately," Isabel sighed. "I wouldn't even be trying to figure this out, except for that idea I mentioned. That's important."

Anakin's eyes lasered onto hers. "Someone's been messing with your head?"

She nodded slowly. "Not here. The short version of a long story? We found a way back to Antar and went a few weeks ago. I wound up captured for a few weeks and basically had one hell of a head game played on me. Then I fell through this rift in time and space and wound up back on earth, a few days after I left."

Anakin looked guilty. "Oh, Isabel, I'm sorry. I wouldn't have used that last memory on you if I'd known." He bit his lip. "I'm sure it's trite to ask how you're holding up, but I'm asking anyway."

"It's okay. You didn't know. Not that many people do, it happened so quickly," Isabel explained. "As for how I'm going? I've got good friends. They've been looking out for me, so it helps."

Anakin nodded. "If you need another friend looking out for you, count me in," he said quietly. "It's been a while, but I've been where you are. War is a terrible thing -- nothing you could tell me would scare me."

"Thanks. Honestly the worse part is just knowing I have to go back," she said, her face making clear just how much she was looking forward to it. "This, being here, is like a dream sometimes. But Max and Michael are still there, and once the time thing gets worked, I owe it to them to find a way back."

And the conversation with Greg suddenly had context.

"I definitely know that feeling," Anakin said softly. "I once endangered an entire solar system rescuing Obi-Wan. It worked, but the planning could've been better."

"I don't think I'll go to that extreme," Isabel replied, trying to act casual. "But no matter how bad it is, it's always been the three of us. I'm not going to change that now."

Anakin nodded. "When the time comes, run your plan past me?" he asked. "I might spot some holes."

He knew better than to stop her from going.

"I will. And now I'd better get out of your hair for now," she smiled, getting to her feet. "Thank you for helping."

"Any time," Anakin said with a smile. "I'll see you soon."
